Ok I practice capoeira since 4 years now, but indeed I was disappointed to spend this amount of money for a dvd like this. It's worth it just if you're a beginner. Not advanced.
PROS: - list of capoeira toques in music section (But where are pandeiro??Atabaque??)
- good stretching advice
- good tips and explanation, though keeps it simple
- some good ideas to excercise
CONS:
- too few excercices for an advanced video
- poor roda section
- its a dvd copy (purple layer), the price is high
- just a few combos
my verdict: A WELL, SLOWLY EXPLAINED MOVIE FOR BEGINNERS/INTERMEDIATE. Not advanced at all

The Legends of California Review

The Legends of California
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product focuses of the new Legends of Cal Football such as Marshawn Lynch, Desmond Bishop and Aaron Rogers. The product states that several sports writers and commentators, such as the legendary Mel Kiper Jr., have reviewed the titles and stated that they were well done.
The title uses the best game highlight footage selected by the coaches, which is called the "coaches tape," and which is later supplied to the NFL scouts as they evaluated these players prior to the NFL April drafts.
It was great to hear and see what these scouts had to say about many of these great athletes as QB Aaron Rogers, RB J.J. Arrington, RB Marshawn Lynch, WR Chase Lyman, DB Daymeion Hughes, DB Matt Giordano, DL Ryan Riddle, DL Brandon Mebane, LB Desmond Bishop, OC Marvin Philip, OL Aaron Merz, OL Ryan O'Callaghan, TE Garrett Cross, DT Lorenzo Alexander and many more California Greats..
"The digital footage is top quality and is accompanied by professional-looking graphics. The narration is brief, letting the action tell the story."
-Ken Thompson, NFL Sports Writer (The Journal and Courier).
"Extremely well put together and impressive. Honestly better than I expected. "
-Chris Horwedel, owner of NFL Draft Blitz
"I viewed the products from the past two seasons and I loved it!"
-Jim Wyatt, Sports Writer and NFL Insider, The Nashville Tennessean.

Mind Mastery For Football (DVD & CD) Review

Mind Mastery For Football (DVD and CD)
Average Reviews:

"I bought your Mind Mastery For Football program about a month ago. When I wrote you last, I was a second string wide receiver, hoping to get into the game. Well, after the first two games, I was placed on the 1st offense and I am now a main target on most pass plays. My confidence has grown a great deal. The concept of relaxing makes a great deal of sense to me and I have a much better understanding of it by being in game situations. I caught my first touchdown pass two weeks ago.
It was a 20 yard pass play, and the whole time I saw the ball come to me, I KNEW that I was going to catch it! Your Mind Mastery For Football program has really helped me focus and concentrate. Even though our season has not been a winning one, I feel that the use of your program has helped me make a dramatic difference, when otherwise it may have turned out very differently."

Contents are geared for where to fish around the USA rather than demonstrating techniques used in tailwaters. One of the co-authors does little to add to the information contained therein.

In addition to Mother Nature, man and computers control the habitat of trout in tailwaters. Discharges from dams can change a calm tailwater stream into a fast flowing river in a matter of minutes yet some tailwaters fluctuate only moderately. Trout adjust their location and feeding habits to these changes in the rates of flow and if anglers are to be successful, they must learn to adjust their fishing methods and techniques accordingly. This program covers a wide variety of streams across the U. S. from East to West, including scenes from over thirty blue ribbon tailwaters. Following the strategies, fishing methods and fly selection procedures presented in this program can greatly increase your odds of success and provide the same type of excitement, success and gratification for you.

I bought this DVD and the other one (successful strategies). There are big contrast btw them. In this DVD, the authers are always talking about something else unrelated to the film (in my point of view). The only good point is they show where they are fishing. If you really want to learn something about trout fishing, pick the other DVD.

I found this video very poorly produced. As far as Aikijujitsu content? The entire content was all Karate, I saw about .01% of Aikijujitsu in this video. In my 33 years in Aikijujutsu growing up in Japan and Korea, I think this is the possibly worst video of Aikijujutsu I or my students have ever seen. Sorry, I would not reccomend this to anyone who wants to learn Aikijujitsu. Some Karate maybe.

Winning Tennis for the Overweight and Hopelessly Out of Shape

I'm a PTR Certified Tennis Pro, with over 30 years of experience teaching/coaching, and I've seen literally thousands of club players over the years. This DVD has the exact kind of tips needed if you are a little bit or even "hopelessly" out of shape.
Even if you aren't totally out of shape and you're looking for a large collection of tips and equipment that will help you this DVD has an enormous amount of information... over 3 hours long!
Tom covers lots of unique and little known gadgets and equipment for staying cool and avoiding injury. He explains court geometry and tactics extremely well. His motto is "run the other guy to death while you eat a piece of pizza" hahaha, I loved that.
He shows drills to put pressure on your out of shape opponent and he explains drop shot and lob tactics too, and serving and return of serve techniques to run your opponent literally right into the fence. He covers way more than I can even fit in this review and I watched every single minute of his looooong 2 DVD set.
Tom has come up with a totally original approach to helping to deal with some of the problems that the overweight tennis lovers encounter on the court. Through this DVD, with an arsenal of tips that are right-on and so very useful, he will for sure help many players, "not just overweight", to improve their game, and start winning more against any style of opponent!! Good Job Tom!! Cheers!! SALUTennis!!

As an athlete who's really into fitness myself, I was very impressed with the variety of workouts demonstrated in this DVD and how effective the exercises are! After just a few weeks you can really feel the difference in your speed and endurance from following this program. (Just make sure you eat right and get enough rest because it's a good challenge). There are so many technical drills and moves as well that I'm sure even an experienced soccer player will find something new. The nutrition and motivation tips were a nice touch also, but I liked the workout the best. If you play soccer seriously it's worth checking out.

Tai-Chi Life Training Program DVD Review

Tai-Chi Life Training Program DVD
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The content on the DVD is OK, the presenters are affable BUT it is really a poorly produced DVD, a home job and it's hard to get past that.
No lighting was used and the male instructor is mostly shadowed and his face is rarely clear.
There are pure white posters and windows behind them which shimmer throughout the piece and are distracting (again, a lighting issue).
There is NO menu for the DVD. You have to go through everything to get to what you want. You can click Next, but it takes you to undefined sections. A menu would have been nice.
I'm not sure why the male instructor was wearing a tae kwon do uniform for a tai chi piece, but that's a minor nitpick...
The ending cheer was kind of goofy but did make me smile...
Again, content is OK, but too many production issues make it hard to use. It's more like a home movie or an in-school training DVD, not a professionally produced one.

Fly Fishing - Small Stream Brook Trout Review

Fly Fishing - Small Stream Brook Trout
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is THE WORST DVD that I have ever purchased. It was $29.99 and not worth a penny. The only reason why I am rating it a 1 star is because the system is requiring me to choose one (otherwise it deserves a zero!). I figured that since it was copyrighted in 2006-ish that it would be relatively contempory but here's the following issues:
1) The audio and video quality is sketchy. They have a narrator but many times they are speaking over a lower volume from the camera's audio when Angie Marsh is catching fish. And the video skips at times and/or is of low quality.
2) The narration does not match the action. The narration attempts to explain and or "teach" fly fishing techniques for small streams. Here's an example: while the narrator is explaining that you shouldn't wade if you can avoid it because you may sppok the fish, the action is showing some ditzy blond stomping through the small stream! Another example is showing a picture of a goddard caddis fly while explaining that it is an elk hair caddis.
3) The video production is so amateurish that any high school AV program is annually turning out better production than this DVD. For example, they show examples of hatching mayflies and other flies that are so beat up that they are missing legs! This is like watching film strips from elementary school made in the 1960's!
4) On top of the seriously deficient video production quality is the fact that the hosts are not experts at fly fishing techniques. This video does not educate/teach the user at small stream techniques as the DVD describes. Even if this audience was more appropriate to beginners, the video shows one of the hosts, Angie Marsh, regularly mishandling trout and regularly petting them in order to show off for the camera. After the first 15 minutes it is a total abomination.
While, this DVD does show the hosts practicing catch and release, they were definitely keeping the fish out of the water either too long or dragging them across rocks or their hand which was removing the fish's protective slime. Who knows how many fish were killed in the making of this DVD!
This DVD should serve as an inspiration! Clearly anyone with a little bit of knowledge has the ability to make a DVD. And I emphasize just a little bit of knowledge! If their other DVDs are of the same quality I would not recommend buying any of them!

Fun, Fun, Fun is the only way to describe fly fishing for brook trout in small streams. Join host Angie and James Marsh, as they demonstrate how to catch beautiful native and wild brook trout from streams so small you can jump across some of them. This program was shot on several different streams throughout the Western, Mid-Western and Eastern United States. The methods, tactics and techniques demonstrated will work fly fishing for brook trout on any small stream where brook trout can be found. Learn to approach brook trout without spooking them and how to trick them into taking the fly. All the trout caught in this presentation are either wild or native brook trout. None were stocked or came from a hatchery. Wild brook trout are very aggressive, lightning fast and much more fun to catch than stocked trout. Catching a native trout as opposed to a stream-bred wild or stocked brook trout just adds something special to the pleasures of fly-fishing. We like to think of them as trout stocked by GodBrook trout are very colorful. Their stripped fins; red, blue and white and the small red spots surrounded by a light halo are scattered about the sides of the fish. Light markings on the back of the trout look like little curled worm like lines more so than dots. In some steams you will sometimes catch a small rainbow trout while fishing for brookies. Defining a small stream can be difficult. Many small streams are called rivers but most of them are probably called creeks. In most cases they are the headwaters of much larger freestone streams. Many small streams are spring creeks but we did not include small spring creeks in this presentation because the techniques and methods for fishing them are greatly different from those used to fish small freestone streams.DVD Menu:IntroductionEastern TennesseeNorthern WyomingSouthwestern MontanaSouthern MontanaWestern MontanaNorthern VirginiaWestern MichiganFly Fishing DVD PromoThe Sport of Fly Fishing

I bought this last summer. I was looking to add to my exercise routine, and this tape was very helpful. It shows views of the different exercises above and below the water. I was able to put into practice the various exercises and get an awesome workout in the pool. I over did it the first time because I didn't feel like I pushed myself that hard, but I did feel it the next day:). It was well worth the price.

LYOTO MACHIDA
Volume 1
Movement and Fundamental Strikes
© Marc Wickert May 8, 2009
w[...]One thing that makes Lyoto Machida so unique in the world of mixed martial arts is that he has risen to the top whilst using a traditionally-based martial arts system.
Lyoto commences Volume 1with basic stretching exercises before using his brother Chinzo Machida to demonstrate the below techniques. `The Dragon' also spars with Chinzo at the end of each strike segment to illustrate how he puts it all together in free-flowing combos.
As with all Victory Belt books, all techniques are displayed from a variety of angles for more clarity.
*Movement: Shows the viewer how to develop a practical base, to make the movements flow freely, and how to close the gap when attacking. Being able to switch stance from orthodox to southpaw and to launch strikes from both stances is recommended. Pivoting whilst attacking, defending and counterattacking is demonstrated.
*Kicks: A wide variety of kicking weapons are illustrated. Lyoto shows how to use one's legs for defense by keeping opponents at a distance through powerful kicks and the use of evasive pivoting and cutting angles. He showcases kicks on mitts, focus pads, Thai pads and whilst sparring, and explains the best method to set up decoy strikes before landing devastating kicks. This section also reveals how to set up sweeps when one's opponent is most vulnerable.
*Punches: Lyoto possesses an extensive arsenal of punches and he shows what part of the hand to impact with in order to maximize damage delivered whilst minimizing damage to one's hand. Other techniques include: maintaining an effective guard, faking strikes to set up bigger punches, correct posture when delivering punches, and punch and kick combos. Machida then demonstrates how to deliver explosive finishing punches.
*Elbows: A wide variety of elbow techniques are illustrated from an even wider variety of angles. The viewer is shown the best methods for unleashing long-range and close-range elbow strikes, juicy targets to zone in on, how to set up spinning elbows, as well as employing elbows for attacking, defending, counterattacking, and countering kicks with elbows.

*Knees: Machida explains the difference between good and bad knees, then reveals how to set up knee strikes, tactics to close the gap before delivering the strikes, and the best ways to combine other strikes with knees. Flying knees and clinching to unload knees are also demonstrated before Lyoto mixes it up in a sparring session with Chinzo while incorporating all of the above techniques.
*Katas: Machida performs four katas that are both strenuous workouts and include powerhouse strikes and blocks. The last two katas are more complex and are shown at both normal speed and in slow motion.
And this is all on the first disc! LYOTO MACHIDA
Volume 2
Striking Attacks and Takedowns
© Marc Wickert May 15, 2009
[...]In Volume 1 Lyoto Machida began fusing his wide variety of strikes together to create destructive combos, and in Volume 2 he weaves together more powerhouse combos that are suitable for both MMA competition and street defense.
Again, as with all Victory Belt books, all techniques on this DVD are displayed from a variety of angles for complete clarity.
*Break and Enter: Lyoto shows how to break an opponent's guard and provide a corridor for unloading strikes. He then demonstrates the use of decoy tactics to set up primary hits, the use of low and high kicks, and combos incorporating all weapons earlier employed.
*Combos: Machida serves up more combos here than a Chinese chow mein restaurant, including attacks to the body and head, fighting same-stance opponents, fighting opposite-stance opponents, and correct positioning of shoulders to avoid telegraphing one's strikes.
*Mixed Bag: Lyoto reveals a variety of offensive sequences whilst altering the speed of strikes and the height of the targets he zones in on to keep his opponent on edge and guessing. Other areas covered are attacking off centerline and the use of closing distance with combos, which are particularly effective against adversaries with a reach advantage.
*Mind Game Techniques: Here Machida unlocks a vault of sneaky tactics to disrupt an opponent's focus and unsettle his balance. He also incorporates blinding decoy strikes to set up heavier shots and maneuvers that distract and confuse the enemy before punishing them with power blows.
*Pad Drills: Lyoto works with his brother, Chinzo, to illustrate 10 focus-pad drills and 11 Thai-pad drills for the viewer to practice. The pair also covers hand-trapping sweeps, and scoop sweeps against same-stance opponents and opposite-stance opponents.
*Machida Medley: Lyoto and Chinzo perform a medley of all of the above techniques to showcase their unique methods of combining devastating firepower with debilitating takedowns.
Although this DVD represents one disc from the 4 DVD Box Set, all four volumes are interrelated and blend perfectly to reveal the secrets of one of MMA's most destructive gladiators.LYOTO MACHIDA
Volume 3
Intercepting Attacks, Takedown Defense, & The Clinch
© Marc Wickert May 20, 2009
[...]
In Volumes 1and 2 Lyoto Machida focuses a lot on the dynamics involved in delivering crushing strikes. Volume 3 flows on from the previous DVDs, explaining how to use timing and distance to deliver those blows with maximum impact to your opponent and minimum risk to oneself.
Also covered on this disc are launching counterattacks, defending against takedowns, and fighting from the clinch.
During the introduction to Volume 3, Lyoto states: "In addition to learning the basic techniques, it is also very important that you focus on timing. As you will soon see, timing is very, very important. If your timing is off, utilizing one of the countering measures I lay out could be hazardous: instead of evading your opponent's attack and landing one of your own, you suffer the hit.
"Along these same lines, it is very important to develop a keen sense of distance. If you attempt to throw a kick and there's not adequate distance between you and your opponent, again you will suffer rather than your opponent," says Machida.*Intercepting Attacks: Lyoto reveals how to base your counter responses on your opponent's movements, and how to fight at long range in order to read those movements. Other techniques covered include closing range with strikes, and combining blocking with footwork.
Lyoto incorporates the above techniques in a sparring session with Chinzo before illustrating how to intercept round kicks, jabs, rear hooks and looping punches.
*Countering Takedowns: Machida demonstrates takedown defense through sprawling and redirecting your opponent's energy, fist and knee intercepts, and Thai clinching and counter attacks. He also focuses on counters to single- and double-leg takedowns before applying all of the above tactics in a spar with his brother.
*Clinching: This section deals with establishing the Thai clinch and delivering knee strikes, use of Thai clinches to off balance your opponent, and elbow strikes from the clinch.
*Basic Overhook-Underhook Positioning: Lyoto demonstrates striking from over-under, inside knee blocks and leg trips from the clinch, double underhook takedowns, and basic clinch defense.
As the rear cover states, "If your goal is to steer the direction of a fight and inflict damage without taking abuse, this DVD is for you."LYOTO MACHIDA
Volume 4
The Ground Game
© Marc Wickert May 23, 2009
[...]
As with the three previous volumes, Lyoto commences this disc with appropriate stretching exercises to prepare practitioners for his upcoming techniques.
*Attacking the Downed Opponent: Lyoto reveals a variety of weapons at one's disposal, and methods for delivering them whilst avoiding up-kicks. He also demonstrates how to apply a nasty foot-lock submission.
*G'N'P from Full Guard: Machida shows how to keep your hands free to ground and pound while pinning your opponent down. He then illustrates ways to strike an adversary from the guard and employ optimal dynamics, and tactics to pass the guard and move to side control or the mount.
*G'N'P from Half Guard: Lyoto covers positioning to avoid counter submissions, and the strategy of varying the targets you select in order to confuse your opponent. Other techniques shown include: submissions from half guard, passing half guard, leg locks from half guard, and ways to escape your opponent's kimura attempts before submitting him with an arm bar.
*G'N'P from Side Control: `The Dragon' runs through straight g'n'p, knee-on-belly positioning, arm traps, immobilizing one's opponent to apply submissions, and side control to mount transitions.
*G'N'P from Mount: Techniques covered include stabilizing your mount position, pinning your opponent whilst unloading g'n'p, and setting up submissions from the mount.
*Taking Opponent's Back: Machida explains how to create openings and to submit adversaries through rear naked chokes, arm bars and katagatames.
*Defending from the Ground: Lyoto demonstrates ways to avoid a prolonged closed guard, how to use your feet and knees to hamper your opponent's attack, and methods to control his hands and arms. Sweeps and submissions from below are also illustrated...Read more›
