This is the 4th video from the series. It has been just as good as the other 3 videos before it. This video, like the others is a great inspirational video. The film maker has caught the essence of sea kayaking and makes you want to get out there in your own kayak and have fun and challenge yourself. Prior to purchasing this series of videos I was a little worried that I would get some type of boring documentary, however, they are very entertaining. The music that was chosen for each segment is great. The video follows several different kayakers from differnt areas of the world and highlights that regions playgrounds. I would highly recommend this video to anyone who is thinking about sea kayaking in the future or just a fun video to be inspired by.

Drive - Notes From the Wilderness (2005) Review

Drive - Notes From the Wilderness (2005)

Mike V has the right attitude about skating. Long before it exploded, the corporations got involved and the term "skater" wasnt a social label, skating was about a culture, if you skated you were a member, there was little if any cliques' or divisions. It rarely mattered if you could ollie, didnt matter if you could could barely stand on the board if you skated and found skaters, you were with friends. This video conveys all that, it may not appeal to the younger crowd, but it it is representative of the way things used to be and the true meaning of skating. I skate with my 14 year old son...im 36....and the modern scene is pretty unappealing in a lot of ways. Seems if you dont skate rails and stairs your somehow not a skater....which is bulls***. Ive tried to explain to my son how it was to skate in the 80s, once he saw the Drive series he finally understood.Bravo to Mike V. for keeping it alive.

The Legends of the Alabama Crimson Tide Review

The Legends of the Alabama Crimson Tide
Average Reviews:

Video: For recent players, all video was from the ground and appeared to be shot by the school production team. Lots of unstable camera work. Much of the video was from the same few games.
Audio: Narration was annoying. The same phrases were repeated word-for-word for the same player and for multiple players. It sounded like some sort of promotional video for NFL scouts.
There was very little video from the better known names advertized for the DVD. Stabler - 3 to 4 plays. Newsome - 4 or 5. Namath - 3 or 4. Starr - 2.
If it weren't for the fact that this was purchased for an 8-year-old, and his expectations are not high, I would be asking for my money back.

I purchased your video at a local diving show in South Florida and can't stop raving about it. As a local certified diver, I can never get enough of the reefs in the Florida area. The video is very clear showing many areas of beautiful marine life that is hard to capture in one showing or with my digital camera. The many species of fish, turtles, and colorful corals are spectacular! I purchased two videos, one to keep here and let my children view and one to send to my family up north to share my experiences. After watching your video my brother came to Florida and received his certification. Everybody loves it!! Can't wait to see your next one!!!!!!!!

The NFL's Greatest Games - '81 NFC Championship Review

The NFL's Greatest Games - '81 NFC Championship
Average Reviews:

NFL films has made an excellent tape which gives a nearly play by play recap (with accompanying actual CBS radio audio) of the 1981 NFC Championship at Candlestick Park in which the upstart San Francisco 49ers defeated "America's Team," the Dallas Cowboys 28-27. This game arguably was the birth of the San Francisco 49ers dynasty and the beginning of the demise of the Cowboys. The game itself was a tense struggle between two evenly matched teams until Joe Montana capped an 11 play, 89 yard final drive with the single most famous play in 49er history, the TD "Catch" to Dwight Clark...The Cowboys responded by threatening to score in the final minute of the game but the 49er defense stiffened and forced a fumble by Cowboy QB Danny White which sealed the game...what a great tape - a treasure for any 49er fan but a bane for any Cowboy fan!!!

Making Documentary Films with Veteran Producer David Hoffman Review

Making Documentary Films with Veteran Producer David Hoffman
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you are looking for a DVD to learn 'How to do documentaries', you are going to be very disappointed, as I was.
I bought this DVD based on the information and the opinion of someone else who rated this item. Maybe the rating is accurate for himself, but there is little or no information about making documentaries. It is a simple, and in my opinion not very interesting, story of what Mr. Hoffman had made during his life. Some documentaries in the 60's and 70's about singers, and many commercials for big corporations from 80's.
No advice on how to do anything related to serious documentary filmmaking, no comments on how to improve your skills. Just short excerpts from his old documentaries.
If you a fan of Mr Hoffman, buy it. But if you want information on how to do your documentary, look somewhere else.

Dr. Bragg Stockton is a legend in the baseball world. He has coached at every level from Little League to High School to College, including the well-respected programs at University of Houston and San Jacinto Junior College. He has trained over 10,000 young men in his summer baseball camps. And over 80 of his players went on to play professional baseball.
This series of videos captures many valuable nuggets of knowledge that Dr. Stockton learned and taught throughout the years. I still review the whole series every year and rediscover things to share with my teams.

Heroes of World Class Wrestling (Director's Cut) (2006) Review

Heroes of World Class Wrestling (Director's Cut) (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had only previously heard about World Class Championship Wrestling through reading about it on internet websites. One of the things that always struck me what what happened to the Von Erich (a.k.a. Adkisson) family and the tragedy that befell them during the years when WCCW was going through its downward spiral. What director Brian Harrison has done is nothing less than a triumph.
The movie takes a look at World Class' humble beginnings as a territory for the National Wrestling Alliance called Southwest Sports. It then advances to its heyday in the early 80s, when it got so enormously popular that it even started to outdraw Saturday Night Live in Dallas. It also became very popular in Israel, where the Von Erichs and announcer Bill Mercer were the four most popular entertainment personalities in the country (although in the movie, Mercer admits sarcastically that he didn't like being number four). According to the Wrestling Observer newsletter, their ratings were so good, they even outdrew the WWF (now WWE) in Boston (which is traditionally a WWF stronghold).
Many personalities were interviewed in the movie. From manager/booker "Playboy" Gary Hart, to the wrestlers who were a part of the promotion, like Chris Adams and Skandor Akbar. Highlights including the famous Von Erichs - Freebirds feud that lit the Dallas territory on fire during 1982 to 1984. Included in the footage of the famous moment where Terry Gordy slammed the cage door in the face of Kerry Von Erich on Christmas day 1982, which practically started the feud. Also interesting is ther perspective of Mickey Grant, the producer of the WCCW TV show, in that he came up with many revolutionary ways (at the time) to film the action for television.
Of course, this story takes the sad turn. Many of the deaths from World Class, including those of the Von Erichs are highlighted. This leads to the belief that there might be a "curse" over the workers of the promotion.
What really makes this DVD great is Kevin Adkisson (Kevin Von Erich). The movie really is worth buying to see what Kevin's persepctive was when he was seeing his brothers and his father die. Kevin doesn't pull any punches and it is worth the price to see the footage where he goes back to the Dallas Sportatorium before it was torn down.
Now the WWE is going to have their own documentary on the promotion now that the tape library of WCCW has been sold to them. So their documentary will have the political spin. Apparently, the documentary that the WWE will produce will make the Freebirds responsible for the great run in the early 80s when it was more than that. So the reason that people should get this video is that they should a more balanced view of what made this promotion so great, only to have it go down in a blaze of glory.
The only gripe I have about the set is that it doesn't have any matches. It shouldn't deter anyone from buying a great movie about a great wrestling promotion.

The Legends of Cougars (BYU) Review

The Legends of Cougars (BYU)
Average Reviews:

Great to see all the BYU Quarterbacks such as Steve Young, Jim "The Funky QB" McMahon, and more recently John Beck. The product states that several sports writers and commentators, such as the legendary Mel Kiper Jr., have reviewed the titles and stated that they were well done.
The title uses the best game highlight footage selected by the coaches, which is called the "coaches tape," and which is later supplied to the NFL scouts as they evaluated these players prior to the NFL April drafts.
It was great to hear and see what these scouts had to say about many of these great athletes such as QB Steve Young, QB Jim "The Funky QB" McMahon, QB John Beck, WR Todd Watkins, LB Brady Poppinga, and OL Scott Young. Also includes bonus highlights of some of the all-time gridiron greats of college football such as Calvin Johnson, JaMarcus Russell, Shaun Alexander, and many, many more.....
"The digital footage is top quality and is accompanied by professional-looking graphics. The narration is brief, letting the action tell the story."
-Ken Thompson, NFL Sports Writer (The Journal and Courier).

"Extremely well put together and impressive. Honestly better than I expected. "
-Chris Horwedel, owner of NFL Draft Blitz
"I viewed the products from the past two seasons and I loved it!"
-Jim Wyatt, Sports Writer and NFL Insider, The Nashville Tennessean.

ALot of the footage that is discernable is not from Master Soken but from some other guy.
There is some footage of the Hakutusuru(or so the narrator Claims) but it was very short.
The peices of the weaponry/kata performed by Master Soken are excellent.
I reccomend it only if you have the extra $$ to throw around , it isn't all that great but is ok for the enthusiast
PS(The narrator becomes quite irratating)

Full Throttle Review

Full Throttle
Average Reviews:

This is an interesting biography of eccentric racing demon Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin whose racing victories in the 1920's and 30's are still legendry. Rather than leaning on a whole life biography, the film allows Rowan Atkinson (as Birkin)to explain the things that were most important to him, racing itself and his rivalry and friendship with the "Bentley Boys". It includes some great vintage and faux vintage footage. The best part of this short classic program is the exceptional acting. Rowan Atkinson shines. Geoffrey Palmer's short role as Birkin's father is excellent."Ghost writer" Crispen Bonham-Carter is extremely believable and Ken Kitson(as Birkin's right hand man)shows off his superb supporting skills. My one criticism is that they tried to cram too much into one hour. This should have been extended into it's own mini series for depth.
