Robert Dunlop Story Review

Robert Dunlop Story
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a must have if you are a fan of true road racing. This was filmed about two years before Robert's tragic death in 2008, and consists mostly of interviews and great footage of his record 15'th win at the North West 200. Interspersed with a long interview with Robert are interviews and insights from his parents, mechanics, friends and supporters and some great vintage race footage.
Robert was a brilliant rider who beat the best of the best during his prime years, including his more famous older brother Joey. His career was only hampered by injury, some of wich would have ended any other riders interest in the sport. The guts and determination he shows to regain his strength and return to the track are almost unhuman. Amazing strength of spirit, and a genuine good man.
I also recommend you search your favorite online video source for an absolutely gut wrenching win by son Michael at the same track two days after his fathers death.

Gorgeous scenery, beautiful mountain range to watch as you cycle through it, incredible mountain lake, awesome wildlife along the way, nice roads, it's a dream escape for cycling and we can have it any day of the week with this video.
I love that the quality of these videos is so good. The colors and detail of the Blu Ray is incredible! The editing is very fluid and even though we change scenery it's with smooth transitions that keep you in the cycling "zone". I have all their cycling videos and enjoy them anytime of the year.
Highly recommended.

Hold on to your hats and spur your bike along faster as you cycle one of the world's most spectacular mountain ranges in this follow-up to the wildly popular Bike-O-Vision Yellowstone National Park! Although they're adjacent, the two regions are quite different. The Grand Teton range towers upwards of 6000 feet over Jackson Hole valley and the Snake River, dominating the western landscape of sage prairies and forests of colorful aspens and weathered pines. You'll occasionally stop and see a moose drinking from a stream, elk bounding across the prairie or stop at a jaw-dropping view of Jackson Lake, but otherwise its full-on cycling throughout.

Charlie Rose with Ron Rosenbaum; Martin Amis; Robert Riger (May 1, 1995) Review

Charlie Rose with Ron Rosenbaum; Martin Amis; Robert Riger (May 1, 1995)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Rosenbaum had written an article in the 'New Yorker' regarding the controversies involved in explaining the mass- murderer who may well be the worst person who ever lived. Rosenbaum explains that part of the controversy is that the Documentary film-maker Claude Lantzmann and others object to this endless consideration of the monster's motives. Lantzmann believes that such an investigation tends to find causes which excuse, causes which make the monster the 'victim' of circumstances. Rosenbaum does not dismiss the truth of this argument, but nonetheless considers it important to make the historical investigation. He speaks about having spoken to Allan Bullock and Trevor- Roper two major historians who have had opposing ideas on motivation, with one believing the monster a true- believer who had a hypnotic power and will which led the masses to follow. The other Trevor Roper sees him as cynical maneuverer who believed in nothing. Rosenbaum talks about other aspects of the controversy. Rose raises the question of Stalin as comparable figure. Rosenbaum perhaps should have pointed out more the uniqueness involved. It was not a question of reasons, or real causes or logical purposes, but rather an effort to wholly wipe out one kind of human being for their very existing.
In any case though I learned from the segment, and thought Rose conducted it wisely and sensibly, I share a bit of Lantzmann's feeling and was somewhat uncomfortable watching it.
Will any of the focus on the 'monster' do anything for the millions murdered by him? or even for surviving family members?

I can't play basketball worth crap, I always wanted to be able play with some kind of skill. These videos teach all of the fundamentals. Just by watching the videos I was already twice as good as I was. That's not saying much, but I'm not going to play in the NBA either. Then when I actually practice I really feel like I'm more competent on the court. My only problem now is my fat a$$.

This was a lame discussion of the best athletes of the century. They are indicated decade by decade. As for the best athlete of the whole century Schaap selects the football player Jim Brown, on the grounds of Brown's all- around ability in many different sports almost all of which he did not play professionally.Halberstamm selects Celtic center Bill Russell. Among the athletes mentioned as candidates for the greatest of the century are Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan, Jack Johnson, Jim Thorpe. What surprised me is how dull the whole discussion was.

The Legends of Colorado Review

The Legends of Colorado
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Kordell Stewart is the greatest Buff QB of All Time. I know this will start a debate, and I am not a huge Buffalo fan, but I am a big fan of "Slash", Kardell Stewart.
The product states that several sports writers and commentators, such as the legendary Mel Kiper Jr., have reviewed the titles and stated that they were well done.
The title uses the best game highlight footage selected by the coaches, which is called the "coaches tape," and which is later supplied to the NFL scouts as they evaluated these players prior to the NFL April drafts.
It was great to hear and see what these scouts had to say about many of these great athletes such as QB Kordell Stewart, TE Joe Klopfenstein, DL Abraham Wright, PK Mason Crosby, OL Mark Fenton, DT Matt McChesney, and RB Bobby Purify. Also includes bonus highlights of some of today's all-time gridiron greats of college football such as Calvin Johnson, JaMarcus Russell, Shaun Alexander, and many, many more.....
"The digital footage is top quality and is accompanied by professional-looking graphics. The narration is brief, letting the action tell the story."
-Ken Thompson, NFL Sports Writer (The Journal and Courier).

"Extremely well put together and impressive. Honestly better than I expected. "
-Chris Horwedel, owner of NFL Draft Blitz
"I viewed the products from the past two seasons and I loved it!"
-Jim Wyatt, Sports Writer and NFL Insider, The Nashville Tennessean.

Charlie Rose with Henry Kissinger, Rock Positano, Bill Gallo & Roger Angell; A remembrance of Stanley Kubrick; Ian McKellen (March 8, 1999) Review

Charlie Rose with Henry Kissinger, Rock Positano, Bill Gallo and Roger Angell; A remembrance of Stanley Kubrick; Ian McKellen (March 8, 1999)
Average Reviews:

The Joe Dimaggio segment was in memory of the Yankee Clipper who had died during the week. There was a clip of Yogi Berra speaking of the special place Joe D. had for the Yankee team. An unlikely friend in the person of Henry Kissinger told about the special grace and dignity of Dimag. Cartoonist and Dimaggio friend Joe Gallo and Dr. Rock Positano who was perhaps Dimaggio's closest friend spoke about his reticence, dignity and kindness as a friend. Roger Angell the baseball writer spoke about Dimaggio's fifty- six game hitting streak as baseball's greatest record.
It was all tribute and perhaps not appropriate but that the 'charges' made about Dimaggio through the years were not brought up at this time. Joe D. was according to some a skinflint emotionally- Contradicting this was Positano who spoke about Dimaggio's kindness as grandparent and parent.
There were a few clips of Joe D. in action.
Also there was consensus on his being the most graceful of all the great center-fielders who made the hard things look easy. I was surprised they did not mention one thing about Dimag which to my mind was most important . He was there in the clutch. The old comparison used to be made between Ted Willimans who got six hits in a game his team won ten to one, and Dimaggio who might have gone zero for three before getting up and getting the hit which tied or won the ballgame.
The show also included a brief montage of Stanley Kubrick's filmwork. Kubrick also died in the same week. Rose calls him one of the great filmmakers of the twentieth century.
Somehow the Rose 'tribute shows' are always among his finest.

A Way of Life, Basketball in Kentucky Review

A Way of Life, Basketball in Kentucky
Average Reviews:

"A Way of Life, Basketball in Kentucky" portrays a very compelling story of the sport of high school basketball, but it tells much more. There is a very personal and human touch to the video in which the viewer can relate. The story centers around 4 very different teams (and their coaches) from the state of Kentucky, where basketball is revered. It is not only an exciting story of the sport of basketball, but it is also a tale of human strengths and weaknesses, personalities and influences, that bring these teams to the "state championship." This video is an excellent choice for anyone interested in basketball, sports, team spirit, human nature or the desire to achieve personal goals.

Fly Fishing - Imitating Stoneflies Review

Fly Fishing - Imitating Stoneflies
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is not a DVD that will teach you to choose materials, hooks, or patterns to use in imitating stone flies. Neither does it give you tying techniques, nor is there a thorough discussion of various rod and line manipulation techniques to imitate stone flies.
There are seasonal entomology lessons combined with the advise to imitate the size and color of the natural with a suggestive pattern, primarily the nymph........ok!
The Index is edited in a way that creates confusion and the transition from one section to the next is abrupt at times leaving the impression of ?"Where the heck is this going, what happened?"
There is useful information in this video, but I'm going to look for something by Rick Hafele that covers the same subject.

This fly fishing video teaches you everything you need to know about catching trout on stonefly imitations including the various families of stoneflies, where they are found, when and how the trout feed on them and how to go about imitating them. It is the most complete fly fishing dvd ever done on this subject.Everyone loves to fish the larger, easy to see and easy to identify stonefly imitations. Presented correctly, at the right time and place, stonefly imitations can account for some of the largest trout taken. The stonefly nymph and adult stages of all the important species of stoneflies life cycles are covered. It includes scenes from stonefly hatches most anglers have never witnessed. All the proven techniques that bring success in imitating these flies are demonstrated in this fly fishing video. Of the various stages of the stonefly s life, the nymph is most important. By far, more stonefly, nymphs are eaten by trout than the full, grown adults. Most of all, in terms of importance, is the presentation of the stonefly nymph. Generally speaking, if you are fishing on or very near the bottom, you are fishing correctly. If not, it may not matter at all how close the imitation is, you are probably not going to do well at all. This fly fishing dvd shows you how to go about catching trout on imitations of both stages of life.Nymphs crawl to the shoreline and crawl out on the banks to emerge. This migration from their locations in the riffles and runs to the shore is the time they are most subject to being eaten by a trout. The trout may key in on this migration prior to a large hatch of stoneflies and position themselves nearer the banks than they normally do in any given stream. This means that the best time to fish the nymphs are prior to hatch although trout can be taken to some degree year round on nymphs. The adults mate on the ground and vegetation on the shore, not in the air like most other aquatic insects. During the day, stoneflies tend to stay hidden under leaves and limbs of streamside vegetation. They are generally not available to trout until they begin their eggs laying process. Most species dip their abdomens into the water to lay their eggs, although some specie may crawl into the water to lay their eggs and other laid them above the surface of the water. The eggs laying process usually occurs most often just before dark. The adults, like the nymphs, vary greatly in size and color. The shapes are all about the same, with a few exceptions. This means that often you can get by with attractor or suggestive imitations of the adults as long as the size and color are close. Specific or imitative patterns will probably work best in most cases, however.
