Great fun to watch Amanda with her dogs. I learned a lot from it. It is well-produced and very uplifting, not boring like some training videos. I liked the different chapters, which made it easy to go back to review just the sections I wanted to review. I'm looking forward to more videos by Amanda!

I would not recommend this for true ECW fans due to the December to Dismember PPV sucking, but I would recommend you get the other videos at the regular price. I have all of the ones but the Van Dam video and D2D. I've seen the Van Dam video and it's pretty sweet so I really think if you are a WWE fan and you want the true feeling of ECW, it's the way to go.

You can find most of these DVDs in one fell swoop on e-bay already if you use the search term "DVD lot" and you will end up paying about half the total cost. These are all Warner Bros snapcase DVDs, by the way. Yep, they come in those cases that drive everyone insane because they are cheap beyond a reasonable doubt. It wouldn't surprise me if half these titles are updated by Warner with new 2-disc special editions (in awesome packaging) in the next 2 years or so. Shop around, folks. These are the same movies you see countless times at your local pawn shop for half the cost here. There's nothing special here to be had, and chances are, you'll be paying for at least one title you don't want.

Iron Palm in 100 Days Review

Iron Palm in 100 Days

The video was pretty good, it's very straightforward. If your familiar with basic martial arts strikes you should have no problems, and he explains pretty well so beginners should be fine too. I do think it lacks in explanation of internal energy cultivation and projection, so having some internal energy experience would be beneficial to the user. If your just looking to get tough hands, this video will do it!

Rugby World Cup 2007 Official Review Review

Rugby World Cup 2007 Official Review
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Is it a good idea to have this... yes, absolutely. It was easily the best ever World Cup. But I am not entirely happy with it.
My concerns are -
* The dvd is only in English.
* The dvd has no subtitle options.
* The structure of the dvd is a massive step backwards. The 2003 World Cup Official Review showed all games highlights in order from game one to the final. The 2007 review, however, shows the pool matches according to pools with Pool D being first, Pool A second, Pool B third and Pool C fourth. Consequently, the pool phase is rushed over.
* The pool matches are rushed over with some matches not even appearing at all. Samoa vs USA was a very good game but was not shown on the dvd. Nor were Argentina vs Georgia, Italy vs Romania, Italy vs Portugal, Australia vs Canada or Fiji vs Canada.
* The bronze final went almost entirely unshown. Only one try was shown, only one! A true disgrace to the achievements of Argentina and to the quality of the game itself.
* The kick off from the first game was not shown at all. Every fan knows it was so emotional and such a roaring start to the RWC. The first passage of play was a must for the dvd but is not included.
* Games that merited 3 or more minutes often recieved a mere 20 seconds on the dvd. The France vs Argentina World Cup openning game was outstanding yet is downsized to cut out far too much.
* The fantastic images ofn the Argentine team crying as they sung the anthem is also not included. A short patrt of their anthem vs South Africa is included, but is clearly not good enough.
* The 2003 World Cup dvd is longer than the 2007 World Cup dvd. Clearly this was a mistake.

SAMBO SUBMISSION FIGHTING, COMPLETE 10 DVD BOXED SET, Starring Russian Master Vladislav Koulikov. Over 10 Hours Professional Fight Instruction
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Make no mistake, this DVD set is jam packed with moves. More than you'll probably ever learn. Koulikov gives some decent instruction, but it's of the encyclopedic sort. If you already study Sambo, Judo, Jujitsu, Wrestling or MMA then this set is worthy as such. Instruction wise Vladislav is careful to break down each move for you and show it in different angles. How to enter and exit each submission while protecting your own position is covered as well.
What really hurts this set is that the dvd's are not chaptered. You can't go directly to a particular submission to watch, and quickly replay it as you try to learn the move. It plays more like a VHS tape. There are other amateur DVD authoring/production issues as well and they have a home made quality about them. If you are buying this for the submissions, then these issues won't bother you as the video quality is pretty clear, and Koulikov gives an honest attempt at demonstrating each move fairly comprehensively.

Classic Superstars of Wrestling Review

Classic Superstars of Wrestling
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an 8 DVD retro wrestling set. Each DVD focuses on a particular theme or "before they were famous" wrestler. The wrestling footage is from around the late 80's till the mid 90's with most of it in the early 90's.
There are a handful of matches from the AWA, World Class, and UWF. Good ol' JR also does some commentary on a match or two. The bulk of the matches takes place in the famous Dallas Sportatorium, the house of the Von Erichs. However, there are no Von Erichs on these DVD's.
The majority of the matches seem to be from an organization called Renegade Ramage, always on display in the center of the ring. A Jerry Lawler vs Mark "The Undertaker" match took place in a closet-sized ring, pretty claustrophobic! Here is a breakdown of each DVD and all the matches:
"Shooting Stars of Today"
Dustin Rhodes vs. Gary Young
Handsome Stranger[Buff Bagwell] vs. Steven Dane
Lightning Kid[X-Pac]vs. Chaz
Soultaker[Godfather] vs. The Avenger
Mark Callous[Undertaker] vs. "Superstar" Bill Dundee
Jeff Jarrett & Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy vs. Ron Starr & Taras Bulba
Samoan Swat Team[with Rikishi] vs. The Missing Link & Jason Sterling
"Superstars of Yesteryear"
Nick Bockwinkle vs. Curt Hennig (AWA title match)
Cowboy Bob Orton vs. Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart
The Fabulous Freebirds vs. Dr. Death Steve Williams & Ted Dibiase
Eddie Gilbert vs. "The Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant
Superfly Jimmy Snuka vs. The Kodiak Bear
Junkyard Dog vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
"Kings, Queens & Superstars"
Mark Callous vs. Jerry Lawler
"Exotic" Adrian Street vs. Miguel Perez
Miguel Perez vs. King Kaluha
Candi Divine vs. Rockin' Robin
Sweet Georgia Brown[Jackyln] vs. Dazzling Denise
Iceman King Parsons vs. Brickhouse Brown
Superfly Jimmy Snuka vs. Kodiak Bear
The Patriot vs. The Cuban Assassin
Basion Booger vs. Jim Thomas
Dick Murdoch vs. Terry Funk
"Tag Team Tempest"
Jerry "The King" Lawler & Jeff Jarrett vs. Sweet Daddy Falcone & Gary Young
Dean Malenko & Vince Torrelli vs. Lee Ramsey & Thomas St. James
The Nasty Boys vs. The American Bulldogs
A Nasty Boys Interview segment
Samoan Swat Team vs. Russ Hayes & Bobby Cox
Steve Austin, Jeff Gaylord, Shiek Braddock vs. Chris Adams, Matt Borne, Eric Embry
"Champions of the Squared Circle"

Cactus Jack, Gary Young, Iceman Parsons vs. Brickhouse Brown, Cowboy Tony, Wild Bill Irwin
Cactus Jack vs. Doug Masters
Cactus Jack vs. Cowboy Tony
Cactus Jack vs. Brickhouse Brown
Cactus Jack vs. Eric Embry
"Steve Austin The Early Years"
Steve Austin vs. The Punisher[The Undertaker]
Steve Austin vs. The Medicine Man
Steve Austin vs. Chris Adams
Steve Austin, Gary Young, Jeff Gaylord, Gen. Skandor Akbar vs. Eric Embry, Jeff Jarrett, Bill Dundee, Percy Pringle
Steve Austin vs. Chris Adams
Steve Austin & Jeannie Clark vs. Chris & Toni Adams
"Booker T. The Early Years"

Booker T. vs. Action Jackson
Booker T. vs. Mike Davis
Booker T. vs. Alex Porteau
Booker T. vs. The Super Destroyer
Booker T. vs. Alex Porteau (return match)
Additionally, Mr USA Tony Atlas does an in-studio commentary segment before every match for the Cactus Jack, Steve Austin, and Booker T DVD's. Still got those hugh "guns". By the way, Buff "Handsome Stranger" Bagwell is hilariously "queer" with this early gimmick. The audio on some matches is not that good. All in all this is a pretty solid package, with plenty of old-school wrestling action. Would be an especially excellent value if it could be found for under $30.

Yoga Booty Ballet Complete Workout System Review

Yoga Booty Ballet Complete Workout System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The concepts are good. The attempt at blending ballet, Yoga, and Dance is merged together is admirable.
The video portions of the techniques and poses could be of better quality. The shots of the drummer don't really help in the instruction and seem to be more for artistic affect. The backdrops are beautiful, but I've have a Yoga DVD where the room is just a studio with solid lighting, and simple furniture and it was beautiful as well, and the video quality better.
The instructors know what they are doing. This I expected.
They give clear direction at points that if you need to take your time, or slow down, or go at your own pace you were encouraged to do so, which I appreciated. People need to know this.
The packaging and leaflets mentioned nothing about needing weights, which I find is a very important oversight that people should know about. What other props or accessories do I need to follow along in the video.
The daily guide to using the 3 DVD set was good. Without that I would have been lost as to how to arrange the usage of the 3 DVDs.
I've done ballet, Yoga, and Dance so this was just the DVD I was looking for. Its good, I can get a workout with it. Just wish the video quality was consistent throughtout the entire range of scences.

I have been working with horses for 40 years and have ALWAYS been taught never to use treats on a horse as it will make them pushy and disrespectful.
Imagine how I felt when I learned that I had been wrong all of this time!---Great! Allen and Sue use this DVD to illustrate how to use treats to teach and motivate AND keep your horse respectful and happy. My horses were good before about learning and being motivated, but they are great about it now! Bring your training and your relationship to a new level and give this a shot.

Average Reviews:

My first impression of this DVD was the price, " WOW" why is this so expensive? After some hesitation I decided to purchase it, to my happy surprise it was well worth the money considering the amount of information it contained. The DVD package is nicely done, also the insert that outlines a summery origin of the form and it's training philosophy is a nice touch. Good angles showing the form in different directions, also the technical explanation is a good start for the layman beginner.
Over all considering the wealth of information in this DVD, it's worth the money. For those that have some martial arts back round this is a form you can learn from a DVD, Eddie Lane Sifu has given Wong Fei Hung's Fu Hok Seong Yin Kuen much respect

I loved this show when it was on, but I missed a few of them. The DVD is really good. I loved watching them ride and I wish they showed more about the teens training, but you only see a few seconds of their lessons. I tried to observe how they did things to learn from it, but it was difficult. But it is still a good DVD to have to watch the teens that are high up.

Krabi Krabong: The Buddhai Sawan Path Deluxe 2 DVD set Review

Krabi Krabong: The Buddhai Sawan Path Deluxe 2 DVD set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are two comprehensive disks in this incredible documentary, so I will review each one separately.
"Disk 1 - Thai Warrior Heritage," pays tribute to renowned weapons instructor Por Kru and a system of combat "born from the ashes of warfare". Background information is given on the environment the arts were developed in. Prominent historical figures like King U Thong and Phraya Pichai are covered, as well places and events, like Wat Pu Thai Sawan, the royal swordsmanship school that inspired the Buddhai Sawan.

One of the most interesting segments shows children learning basic Muay Boran training sets. Muay Boran, the bare-knuckle predecessor to Muay Thai, gives students a solid foundation "that integrates seamlessly into weapons work". The training sets are an efficient way to learn basic punches, kicks, knees and elbows. These techniques are eventually practiced in set sparring, and later in a light, strategic, freestyle manner. The ancient method of hand wrapping with ropes, inherited from the Muay Korat system of bare-knuckle boxing, is also shown.

Children practice Wei Kru, a dance-like set of movements that is part warm-up and part meditation, similar to what is seen before a Muay Thai match. The students' level of technique is impressive to say the least.

There are brief but captivating demonstrations of other forms of Krabi Krabong, like Lana, which is found in Northern Thailand, and the Muslim arts of the south. There are also a few examples of weapon arts from Burma, Cambodia, and Laos.

Three categories of weapons are covered (attack, protective, and projectile), as well as two single sword types, the staff, the shield, and other weapons. The names and numbering system behind the Standard Eight Drill are also introduced. Students practice two man drills and are taught the principles behind each weapon. First they learn how to battle against matched weapons and then move on unmatched weapons.

The disk is packed with ceremonial coverage, demonstration clips, and training footage. There is nothing on the market that covers the history and background of Krabi Krabong as well as "Disk 1 - Thai Warrior Heritage" does. This is essential information for anyone interested in Thai martial arts and traditional weapons in general.
"Disk 2 - The Primary Weapons", is an instructional that covers the basics of Por Kru's teaching methods. The Primary Weapons consist of the Daab Son Mue, or double swords, the Daab, or single sword, and the Krabong, or staff. The Standard Eight targets and the four series of cuts are drilled for each of the weapons. Nothing is added to the original teachings; they are presented in the order Por Kru taught them.
Although Disk 2 has very little narration, Vincent Giordano's experience as a cinematographer shines through. Footwork, body alignment, proper stance structure, and weight distribution are all clearly filmed under the watchful eye of Por Kru. Virtually every relevant angle is shown - no words necessary, although students do call out the names of the Standard Eight targets.
Anyone interested in traditional weaponry can benefit from this video. There is a strong emphasis on the basics. Students practice techniques in a slow, controlled manner, which makes it easy for viewers to grasp of the principals behind Krabi Krabong. Although the movements can be done solo, it is best to work in tandem with a partner.
The order in which the weapons and drills are taught show common threads that flow from one weapon to another. Por Kru was one of the first graduates of Thailand's physical education program; his ability to integrate new ways of teaching the ancient warrior arts was a stroke of genius. Disk 2 gives a taste of what it was like to train under such an accomplished master.
"Krabi Krabong: The Buddhai Sawan Path" contains is a true treasure for both academics and martial artists. Those familiar with Vincent Giordano's work, which documents the traditional arts of Southeast Asia, will appreciate the wealth of information contained in this set. Vincent also has an informative newsletter called The Vanishing Flame, as well as other DVDs that cover various arts. [...].

Beginners Guide To Karate (2003) Review

Beginners Guide To Karate (2003)
Average Reviews:

Plus factor
This is one of the few teaching tapes that really is useful as a training aid ... Jim wilson explains all the various kicks , punches , strikes in such an " Easy to learn from way " that I would recommend this tape to anyone wanting to learn or sharpen up their karate striking basic.....he explains about stances , shows how to use the hip correctly and the correct way to use the body to generate maximum power and speed ... this is much more than a beginners guide ...its a full explanation of basic technique performance .......whether you are a complete beginner or someone like me who has been training for reasonable time it is a great reference and learning guide..
Negatives
It was obviously filmed as a video and transferred to DVD and so suffers from some lack of chapters I would also have preferred if he had included the basic kata and kumite sparring drills as well making the tape so much more valuable ... but despite that I think its still a worthy buy.....

After the shock wore off of the entire audio portion of the DVD being in Japanese, I have thoroughly enjoyed using this DVD.
With no previous experience with Bojutsu, I have learned much from the DVD. The video starts off showing your stances, strikes, and blocks from both the front and side view, them progresses through additional forms and kata. And I have learned to count from 1 to 10 in Japanse as well.
I believe advanced practitioners of Bojutsu would not gain much from this video, except for the possibility of being able to practice the kata in the privacy of their own home. But beginners such as myself can gain much from watching.

2010 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl-Boise St vs. TCU Review

2010 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl-Boise St vs. TCU
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The 2010 Fiesta Bowl offered a hard fought defensive battle. It was also an historic contest. The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) of which the Fiesta Bowl is a part was (and is) designed to protect the financial advantages of six specific college football conferences when it comes to playing in the the "big money" games. This arrangement probably violates anti-trust law and is widely disliked among fans. But gradually some of the non traditional teams have gained national attention anyway, most notably the University of Utah, Boise State, and Texas Christian. And following the 2009 season, for the first time, two of these teams, TCU and Boise, were invited to play in a BCS game: the Fiesta Bowl held in Glendale Arizona.
Initially fans of both teams were a little disappointed in the match up. Boise and TCU had faced off twice before in smaller bowls with Boise taking the first contest by 3 points and TCU winning the second by a single point. But fans of these two teams and college football fans generally were hoping to see their team play one of the "Big Six" conference teams (teams who, by virtue of winning their conference, get an automatic berth in the BCS bowl games regardless of their record or ranking). Of the 4 previous occasions that smaller schools were actually invited to BCS bowl games, they had won 3 of those games and fans hoped that two more victories might lead college athletic directors to reconsider the Bowl Championship Series in favor of a playoff that allowed champions to be decided on the field, not in the press box or among computers. Executives for the Fiesta Bowl saw things differently however and invited both TCU and Boise State to the Valley of the Sun for a January 5 showdown. From their perspective, having two undefeated and relatively evenly matched teams play would make for great football, drama, and ratings. By and large they were correct. The Fiesta Bowl received better ratings than the Orange or Sugar Bowls and offered a better game than any of the other major bowl games. Fans of college football will enjoy seeing this game again. Unfortunately, Fox has done a better job on production in the past than they did with this DVD.
The game itself was a defensive struggle. TCU had a reputation for dominating teams on defense but few knew just how good Boise State was. Playing in the pass-happy, offense dominated Western Athletic Conference (WAC), Boise had given up a fair number of points over the season. Dedicated Bronco fans, however, knew that the numbers were a bit deceiving. Boise's Broncos boasted the number one offense in the country and most of the scoring against BSU occurred late in contests when the game was out of reach and Boise had already substituted in players two and three deep on their depth chart. Many analysts expected TCU to win handily based on the faulty reasoning that, because they played a more difficult schedule they were a "better" team. But as the game went on, it became clear that Boise was stronger. They controlled time of possession, enjoyed better field position, and committed fewer mistakes. Nonetheless, in a low scoring game, a single turnover can have a huge effect and going into the 4th quarter, the two teams were tied at 10 each. At that point, Boise State did what it does best, pulling a trick play on a 4th and 9 from their own 29 yard line to complete a game winning drive. Both Boise and TCU had great seasons and in the end, the better team won.
Fox, however, did not do justice to this game with their DVD production. The DVD begins with kickoff in the 1st quarter. Fans who attended the game or watched will be disappointed with the lack of lead in. There is no discussion of how the teams came to play in this game and no notice of the pregame controversy about who won the coin toss. We do not even get to see the teams enter the field, a portion of bowl game festivities that contributes heavily to the atmosphere of the game. Other scenes some fans will remember from the original game cast have also been cut. The bonus material was much briefer than that of the Broncos more well known Fiesta Bowl appearance in 2007 when they defeated Oklahoma.
In the final analysis then, you may want to get this DVD if you did not record the game. It was an important game and as a result of this victory, it is generally agreed that Boise State has a legitimate shot at a national title in the 2010 season. If invited to play in the National Championship game, it will mark the first time a team from a non automatic qualifying conference is so honored. But precisely because the 2010 Fiesta Bowl was such an important game, it deserved a better production than what Fox gave it. Hopefully next year, when ABC and ESPN cover the college bowl games, fans will get a better product for their money.
