I have tried 5 out of the 7 so far and they really give me a workout. No confusing dance routines. I tried them for about 10 days and saw dramatic results. Jeanette will certainly challenge you and get you in shape. You should give it a try and you will see what I'm talking about.

2000 Tour de France 8-Hour Remastered Review

2000 Tour de France 8-Hour Remastered
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Another great set from WCP, and well worth the money. These extended sets are amazing, with lots of coverage for the big stages.
This was a much more exciting tour than '99, and Armstrong faced stiff competition from two former winners. Many at the time thought he would not be able to compete with them. Pantani was considered too talented in the mountains and Ullrich too great a time-trialist. However, Armstrong beats them both in their own specialties.
The lead up to the Mont Ventoux stage is interesting, as you see how much riders actually fear this climb. The stage itself provides excellent viewing, and a finish that Armstrong regrets to this day.
Even though Armstrong is dominant, he's not infallible. He and Pantani get into a war of words (also captured well on this set), and that leads him to chasing the Italian down when he shouldn't. This backfires, and he bonks hard. Armstrong has been so dominant in the tour; it's surprising to see him struggle. He probably learned a valuable lesson.
This production does have a few problems. There's some picture break up at times, but that's due to the source material. WCP continues to do a straight transfer from VHS, which I just don't understand. Therefore, you get stages spread across DVDs. All in all, though, it's well worth having. The battles for the points and climber jerseys are covered, and this tour sees the reintroduction of the team time trial and white jersey for best young rider. Well worth the money, and highly recommended.

1999 Tour de France 8-Hour Remastered Review

1999 Tour de France 8-Hour Remastered
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've always been interested in road cycling, but it's never received much press in the United States. Even today, the only cycling event that gets decent live coverage in the US is the Tour de France, and that's because an American is dominating the event. I watched nearly every minute of the 2001-2004 events, but I was only able to see highlights of the 1999 and 2000 events. I've always wondered what that race must have been like. Now I know.
The tactics used by US Postal are completely different in 2004 than they were in 1999. US Postal was not the team that it is in 2004. Lance Armstrong had to do almost all the work on his own. Armstrong is dominant in the mountains and in the Time Trials. Just watch Armstrong yelling at himself to keep working during the second time trial. It's very intense. When you consider he'd just returned from his cancer battle, it's really an amazing thing. Watching this incredible feat was a lot of fun.
All the big moments are captured, and not just the ones involving Armstrong. Crashes by Zulle and Julich are covered, and a collision between a spectator and a rider is caught live as you watch the dramatic finish on one of the climbs. All the crazy spectators make an appearance as well.
This package is not without it's problems. It's a straight transfer from VHS, so some stages are actually split between two discs. It would have been nice if they would have corrected this. However, this package is more than I ever thought would be available. It's a solid eight hours. Some of that time is taken up by interviews and footage from previous years, but most is 1999 race coverage. Good coverage is also given to the green jersey and king of the mountains battles, but Armstrong is the clear star of this show. I recommend this to any new cycling fan who'd like to see the genesis of the greatest Tour de France rider. You won't be disappointed.

If you, or anyone you know, is a John Cena fan, this is a must have. My son loves John Cena more than anything. We got "My Life (Ultimate Fan Edition)" for him for Christmas. We could not have gotten him anything better. It shows John Cena when he was working his way up the ranks and referred to himself as the Prototype. It shows how he got into bodybuilding at a young age. In addition, it has other well known wrestlers speaking candidly about John Cena.
This is a must have for any John Cena Fan!

Cinema's Dark Side - Impact/The Second Woman/They Made Me A Criminal (1939) Review

Cinema's Dark Side - Impact/The Second Woman/They Made Me A Criminal (1939)
Average Reviews:

"Impact" and "The Second Woman" are excellent examples of the kind of quality programmers that Hollywood seemed to churn out effortlessly in its golden age. Both have clever, tight plotting, well-written dialogue and fine acting. Neither director is much remembered these days, but on the evidence here they deserve reassessment. "They Made Me a Criminal" is solid too, but not really a film noir and not as interesting as the other two. The quality of the prints on this triple-feature DVD is surprisingly good, and the whole package is an amazing bargain.

Rocky: The Complete Saga (1990) Review

Rocky: The Complete Saga (1990)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The stars which are used to rate this product are for the technical specs of the product itself, not a rating on the merits of the films. I am a huge Rocky fan, so the films would get five stars, no matter how they were packaged. Ok, now that I've cleared that up:
From The Digital Bits news today: "In other release news, MGM has just set a Rocky: The Complete Saga DVD box set for release on 12/4 (SRP $59.98). The set will include Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, Rocky V and yes... the recent Rocky Balboa. Unfortunately, according to the studio's press release, the only extras on the set are a pair of trailers (one for Rocky and one for Rocky V). Yo, Adrian! Where's the beef?" If that is true--and it probably is since The Digital Bits is the most reliable site for DVD news--why bother releasing this set?
Here's the DVD history of Rocky: MGM originally released individual standard DVDs of the Rocky movies many years ago as the DVD format became more popular. The DVDs were, to put it charitably, poorly produced. Subsequently, MGM released a Rocky I-V box set back in 2001 to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Rocky. Although the packaging was nice, there wasn't much improvement to the DVDs themselves as far as audio and video transfers; the most significant detail of the set was the addition of interviews and other special features to the first Rocky disc. A few years later, the set was re-released with different packaging, with some improved audio and video transfers on some of the movies (Rocky V was notably left untouched). And last year, to coincide with the release of Rocky Balboa, the set was re-released again, this time with the cheap, thin DVD cases now being used in tv season DVD packages as the only difference from the previous release. Inexplicably, rather than being included in the re-re-released box set, the first Rocky movie was also separately re-released on DVD in a 2 disc 30th Anniversary special edition (Well, I guess greed would explain it...). So, if you bought any of the box sets, you still had to purchase the 30th Anniversary edition of Rocky to be a true completist.
With Rocky Balboa having been available on DVD for over six months, MGM has now chosen to release the complete set of films in a new box set. But what a missed opportunity this represents to include special features which have been omitted from previous releases. I do not know if there are cut scenes from Rocky IV in the MGM vaults, but I know for a fact that there is massive material for Rocky V, as a bootleg "uncut" version of the film has been circulating online for years. Also, why not finally upgrade the video transfer of Rocky V? Perhaps the most egregious omission will be special features for Rocky Balboa. Listening to Stallone's commentary on the DVD, he repeatedly refers to a "director's cut" which he would like to release at some point. This would have been the perfect time.

Ultimate Boxing Lessons COMPLETE 8 DVD BOXED SET, Starring Boxing Coach Christopher Getz
Average Reviews:

I recently received the Christopher Getz Ultimate Boxing 8 DVD Boxed Set and on first pass I am impressed. There is so much information it took me over a week just to view them all. I have over 40 pages of notes after watching just half of them. Getz is a very skilled and knowledgeable teacher who is never boring as he breaks down all the techniques and strategies in a way you can easily learn them. The lessons are very well structured and all DVDs compliment the others. Everything is covered from equipment to basic and advanced techniques so I must say this series offers a complete package on Boxing which is what I have been searching for and finally found with this set. The best thing is besides the physical routines, the lessons open your eyes as to how sophisticated and technical the sport of boxing really is. Boxing is a game of chess and to succeed Coach Getz teaches you to be a smart fighter as well as a fit fighter. The series is a total package with hundreds of techniques, tips and strategies that can make anyone who studies them a complete fighter. A++ Very good investment!

Received this DVD for Christmas from my son.
Great gift, especially for someone who grew up in Montreal cheering for Les Habitants.
There is some interesting history on this Centennial Edition, however the quality of the the production is significantly lacking. There are 4 individual discs yet each contains significant repetition of items. It seems that the editing was done by someone preparing a web site with hypertext links - this would make sense.
I recommend this item for nostalgia but if you really want to learn about this team and its importance to Quebec and Canada, the book that accompanies the DVD is a much better source.

The Chicago White Sox - 2005 World Series Collector's Edition (2006) Review

The Chicago White Sox - 2005 World Series Collector's Edition (2006)
Average Reviews:

I have found out through some web searching that this set will contain 7 DVDs which will contain the 4 World Series games against the Astros, plus the series clinching games against the Red Sox and the Angels for a total of 6 games. I assume the 7th disc will contain bonus material.
It would have been nice to have all 12 games in the White Sox' run (or at least the 11 victories), since the two clinching playoff games were on the road, but I assume the DVD producers don't think the market justifies such a set given that the World Series had a low viewer rating. But it should be a great addition to a White Sox fan's video library!

NFL America's Game Super Bowl I-XL (2006) Review

NFL America's Game Super Bowl I-XL (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love a good work of fiction but sometimes reality can be very entertaining. This series is well-made and so intense and passionate that it brought me to tears more than one time. Every episode is a unique road to the superbowl by the team who won it and told by 3 important actors of the team. The 1985 conquest of the Bears for example is told by Mike Ditka, Mike Singletary and Jim McMahon. The stories that leads to the big game are fascinating, touching and often surprising. I love the series so much that I was comtemplating buying the first DVDs on the market which focus on one particular team and all the superbowls they won. But now, I was happy to see that they compile everything in one package. The packaging is very well made, the 40 DVDs being separated in 4 eras (66-75)(76-85)(86-95)and (96-05), 10 discs by DVD. Also, an interesting 88 page book with every conquest by every team. On the DVDs you have also a bunch of interviews that we couldn't see on the NFL network. If you love the NFL this is a great work by NFL films and Steve Sabol and a great piece of history to possess. The only thing missing is the Colts Superbowl last year but the documentary is about the first 40 Superbowl so we can't have everything unfortunately.

Having to wait almost 2 years to get the 2009 cup win on DVD totally blew. I was watching it on Hulu and watching the highlights over and over again on Youtube as well as the celebration. Luckily game 7 is on this DVD and the celebration on the ice afterward is also included! We get an interview with Mario after the Game 1 SCF Blackhawks win (coming from behind, incredibly exciting) and another come from behind victory is included, game 6 vs. Philadelphia, with Max shushing the crowd (two interviews after that one, Fleury and Crosby). The picture quality of the games is even better than Volume One, and seeing Crosby raising the Cup is priceless. I love this set! LETS GO PENS!

Tracy & Hepburn the Definitive Collection Review

Tracy and Hepburn the Definitive Collection
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For classic film fans, it doesn't get any better than the films featuring Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn, but the special magic was in the movies they starred in together.
This latest and greatest offering provides all of their movies in one package, two that haven't been released on DVD before. For fans who have been buying each of their films as they've been released, there is little reason to duplicate those purchases here, as the two remaining films are also now being released. This is, however, a wonderful boxed set for fans new to these amazing actors, or for others who only have one or two of their movies.
Tracy and Hepburn are truly iconic: their sparkle on screen was a chemistry that was not only acting but very, very real. They were a committed couple for decades, but because Tracy was married but separated, they never publicly acknowledged their relationship during his life time. Tracy was a Catholic back in the days when divorce was not an option, so he and his wife had a quiet separation, that was respected by the media, which never "outed" them. Hard to imagine in this day and age of the stalkarazzi!
In addition to their films, this boxed set includes a special tribute to Tracy that Hepburn made, in which she finally publicly discussed their private relationship. Hepburn only produced the film after Mrs. Tracy passed away, because she didn't want her to be embarrassed by the disclosure.
Hepburn describes when they first met, saying that she had made a quip to him about being taller than he was, to which he replied something like, "Don't worry, I'll cut you down to size."
This set includes Woman of the Year; Keeper of the Flame (first time on DVD); Without Love; The Sea of Grass (first time on DVD); State of the Union; Adam's Rib; Pat and Mike, which was written especially for them to star; Desk Set; and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, about a white couple coming to grips with their daughter's engagement to a black man.
Tracy was very ill during the production of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, but by sheer force of his amazing personality he managed to finish the film. He died a very short time later. (Look for an unforgettable scene in which his character tells his 'wife' played by Hepburn, how much he loves her. Fans have long believed it was his on-screen TRUE love declaration to Hepburn, whose eyes brim with real tears as he talks.)
If you're a first-time viewer of these films, you owe it to yourself to buy this great collection. They are more than worth watching, they are worth owning and enjoying again and again.

She adjusts a stocking on one slim, elegant leg. He wanders in, admiring the view. She glances up ... and it's magic. It stayed magic for Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn for 25 years, from that first movie meeting in Woman of the Year, through eight more classic films. Cinema fans who have long celebrated the remarkable couple's on-and-off-screen partnership have more to celebrate with Tracy & Hepburn: The Definitive Collection, the only place to find all the films they made together, plus a glowing documentary about Tracy hosted by Hepburn. From witty sophisticated comedies (Woman of the Year, Without Love, Adam's Rib, Pat and Mike, Desk Set) to trenchent dramas (Keeper of the Flame, The Sea of Grass, State of the Union) to their final film rich with laughs and tears (Guess Who's Coming to Dinner), this unique collection captures every moment of the incomparable Tracy-Hepburn screen magic.
