Yoga For Everyone Tripack Review

Yoga For Everyone Tripack
Average Reviews:

These dvds are a little longer than the other dvds (the easy and the wake up series), but they are great. I am pretty fit but unflexible and this is a great way to increase flexibility and also work on strength training if (like me) you don't like weights but feel that the work out from just cardio isn't enough.
Obviously Wei Lana's usual soft voice, beautiful natural landscape and calming meditation at the end is the perfect way to start the day.

I've suffered from PMS for as long as I can remember and I was really looking forward to trying this DVD. I have seen many exercise DVDs, but I have never seen one that targets PMS symptoms specifically like this one does. The instructor talks you through proper form and the benefits of each exercise. I like knowing how each exercise will help me and I did feel better afterwards, and best of all, I got a great workout!

Yoga Booty Ballet Complete Workout System Review

Yoga Booty Ballet Complete Workout System
Average Reviews:

The concepts are good. The attempt at blending ballet, Yoga, and Dance is merged together is admirable.
The video portions of the techniques and poses could be of better quality. The shots of the drummer don't really help in the instruction and seem to be more for artistic affect. The backdrops are beautiful, but I've have a Yoga DVD where the room is just a studio with solid lighting, and simple furniture and it was beautiful as well, and the video quality better.
The instructors know what they are doing. This I expected.
They give clear direction at points that if you need to take your time, or slow down, or go at your own pace you were encouraged to do so, which I appreciated. People need to know this.
The packaging and leaflets mentioned nothing about needing weights, which I find is a very important oversight that people should know about. What other props or accessories do I need to follow along in the video.
The daily guide to using the 3 DVD set was good. Without that I would have been lost as to how to arrange the usage of the 3 DVDs.
I've done ballet, Yoga, and Dance so this was just the DVD I was looking for. Its good, I can get a workout with it. Just wish the video quality was consistent throughtout the entire range of scences.

Equi-Stretch--Strengthening and Stretching Techniques for the Rider Review

Equi-Stretch--Strengthening and Stretching Techniques for the Rider
Average Reviews:

I highly reccommend Equistretch videos. The videos are the next best thing to a live class with Kristi and Dan, which is a real treat.
My husband and I have used Equistretch videos for three years and really enjoy the stretching routines, as they address rider specific muscle groups and build core strength and flexibility. We are both middle aged and trail rider, fox hunt and I do some dressage. I have two of the videos and their travel book and stretching bands which I also enjoy. We use a variety of yoga and exercise tapes and make Equistretch part of our regular routine. Dressage guru Jane Savoie has some nice things to say about their work-outs on her website. Enjoy!

Namasté Yoga Flow (2007) Review

Namasté Yoga Flow (2007)
Average Reviews:

VERY DISAPPOINTING. I was hoping for something along the lines of "Namaste YOGA" that airs on Fit TV.
This was terrible. Visually it was choppy and hard to follow. NO FLOW. Sound was that of a junior high production. Someone did a home video of a third rate yoga class and then painted the word SUCKER on my forehead.

She gets right the point and works on common problem areas of many runners, triathletes and cyclists. A great cross-training/stretching tool you can use anytime!

Babaji's Kriya Hatha Yoga Self-realization through Action with Awareness Review

Babaji's Kriya Hatha Yoga Self-realization through Action with Awareness
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"This is the first Kriya Hatha Yoga tape to come our way. The teaching, a blend of Patanjali's kriya yoga and kundalini yoga, is attributed to the legendary Babaji Nagaraj, the ageless siddha(adept) introduced to Westerners in Paramahansa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi. Kriya yoga, the yoga of "ritual action," is probably not as well known as its eight-limbed cousin, ashtanga yoga, Kriya traditionally has three elements: asceticism (tapas), self-study (svadhyaya), and devotion to the Lord (ishvara-pranidhana; see Yoga Sutra II.1). However, the first two elements cited here are practice (abhyasa) and dispassion (vairagya), usually considered the two great "wings" of the classical school and embracing both kriya and ashtanga yoga. The asana practice consists of a fixed series of 18 mostly familiar poses, such as Full and Half Shoulderstand, Plow, Triangle, and Boat. The names given to several of the poses are a bit unusual; for example, the aforementioned Boat, typically called Navasana, is here Vajroli Mudrasana, which is actually what this position is called in the Gheranda-Samhita, a seventeenth-century hatha manual. Along with Shoulderstand and its variations, the sequence consists primarily of alternately forward-sitting and back-bending poses, many augmented by pulsing "micro-movements," or kriyas. There are only two standing poses: a forward bend near the beginning and a Triangle at the very end, which provides the only twist.
The 100-minute session strolls along with lots of time to rest and reflect in between poses. There are minimal physical instructions, the emphasis being on the energetic and spiritual dimensions of the work. The poses are generally accessible and adequately demonstrated, though the inversions aren't properly cautioned regarding high blood pressure and menstruation, and Govindan demonstrates the Lotus warm-ups by pushing down on his knee, which I wouldn't recommend. But this is an earnest, unique and inspiring presentation, suitable for experienced beginners and intermediates."

STOTT PILATES: Express Series 3 DVD Set Review

STOTT PILATES: Express Series 3 DVD Set
Average Reviews:

I'm an experienced Pilates student and like the Stott style. Recently I got very ill. I lost so much muscle and weight, it's been a tough recovery. I started back to Pilates with these DVD's figuring they would be gentle. The first difference I noticed was feeling less blue. This helped motivate me to do more in life and with Pilates. I'll be graduating to the Fitness Circle workouts soon. These DVD's have been a great beginning.
Clear instruction, each DVD completely different than the other.

From Russia With Tough Love Review

From Russia With Tough Love
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this DVD because it's longer than Pavel's first DVD, The Russian Kettlebell Challenge, which sounded skimpy at 32 minutes.I'm pleased with my purchase. The video isn't perfect, but Pavel's instruction alone is worth the price.
First and foremost, for all the self-promotion and over-the-top slogans, Pavel knows what he's doing. His sense of humor shows through the awkwardness, and his running commentary is filled with valuable information. Pavel is truly a geek: He has a broad and deep knowledge of his field, he believes in the importance of his work, and he wants everyone else to love it and know as much about it as he does. There is no substitute for the quality of instruction such a person can provide.
Based only on the choice of material and quality of instruction, I would give the video five stars. The downside is that I'm a little bit disappointed with the models.
The models are good, but they don't always look completely comfortable with the techniques. Watching a master is an enlightening experience. Occasionally these women rise to that level, but just as often they seem more like advanced beginners. On some of the exercises, I can see imperfections in their technique, and they seem to be correcting their form as Pavel describes the exercises. (I'm not talking about the times when Pavel asks them to demonstrate common mistakes.) It's easier for me to be a critic than to do it right, but for a commercial video, Pavel should have found models who were truly masters with the kettlebells. After all, they're not called models because they have exceptional bodies (although they do), they're called models because the viewer is supposed to be able to use them as models for his or her own technique.
On a final note, I'd like note that the production quality is not very good, and the people on screen are not professional fitness actors and actresses. This interfered with my first viewing of the video. In fact, on my first viewing I got a strong "battered woman" vibe from the two models. On subsequent viewings I realized that this is a product of lighting (the women's faces are often half in shadow), awkwardness in front of the camera, the fact that the women are actually being challenged by the exercises (no fake weights here), and the lack of that awful chirpiness and cheerfulness that bugs me so much in real life, but which I have come to expect from women who exercise on my television. The women don't act coked up, the actors don't always hit their marks, and Pavel's delivery is occasionally stilted. Ack! Real people on my television screen! After watching the video once or twice, this won't bother you any more. (On the other hand, you *will* be disappointed if you're looking for spunk or girl-power attitude from the models.)
In summary, the instruction is top-notch, the production quality distracted me a bit during the first viewing, and the models do not always live up to that title. It's an easy four stars, and I won't hesitate to buy more of Pavel's products in the future.

Ice Chamber Prenatal Workout with Jessica DiBiase, Kettlebell Master of Sport Review

Ice Chamber Prenatal Workout with Jessica DiBiase, Kettlebell Master of Sport

I am pregnant and I received this video as a thoughtful gift about a month back. I am not usually a fan of working out at home, alone, but I decided to give it a shot. It is the best thing a pregnant lady who wants to keep her body moving could ask for. Jessica focuses on attainable movements and exercises that not only keep me moving, which can be quite difficult at times, but it also help me feel like I got a workout. It has been very helpful in getting me a little extra burst of energy, especially in the mornings. Some days I wake up dragging, but without fail if I can force myself to turn it on and do the workout, I feel so much better.
