Though I only studied Aikido for a short time, I am quite familiar with many of the holds, locks, and takedowns because of my background in Jujitsu. This volume includes many of the basic techniques of Aikido. I do question how effective some of the self-defense responses are in this volume, but that may be because of my back ground in more aggressive self-defense systems such as karate, boxing and combatives. Nevertheless, this is a good book to use as a reference source for those taking up Aikido.
Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Combatives Vol. 1, 2).
