(More customer reviews)I recently recieved this DVD as a present from a very good friend who knows of my interests in pre-kung fu mania martial arts.And if you're interested in the history of modern judo you may want to purchase it.It chronicles the first Olympic judo competition held at the Tokyo games in 1964.Up front,the quality of this DVD isn't the best.The film is nearly 50 years old,so it's grainy in spots.And at the time it was filmed they only used one camera to capture all of the action.So sometimes it seems rather static.It's also taken from the original Japanese broadcast. So if you don't speak Japanese you might get a little lost.There are a few sub-titles, but they're only there to tell you who's competing.I really think the producers of this disc should have taken the footage that they had and either used an updated commentary or translated the original broadcast.Still you get to see Geesink vs.Kamanaga.You also get to see all four members of the U.S.A delegation in action and the gold medal match between Japan's 196lb. Inokuma and Canada's 260lb. Doug Rogers.A match won by Inokuma.As I said if you're interested in judo history you may want to purchase this DVD.Otherwise I don't know if it's worth the price it's being sold for.
