It just seems suspicious that all 3 reviews were entered in a couple of days only... potentially a case of self promotion?

Athens 2004 Olympic Games Review

Athens 2004 Olympic Games
Average Reviews:

Disc 1 is the entire opening ceremony; disc 4 is the entire closing ceremony. One of the other 2 is general highlights; the last is Greek athlete highlights (I did not watch it).
These were done by a Greek company, so the English subtitles leave something to be desired. They are also very distracting and too fast to read at times; they also obscure what is going on. I strongly advise that they be turned off. You don't need them, since the announcements are done in Greek, French, and English anyway, and you don't need to know what the Greek commentators are saying, anyway (see below). Even if you have difficulty hearing, you don't need them: they don't identify the various cultures represented, etc., so all you would miss would be the welcoming speeches.
The commentators were all too often disrespectful. They would continue to talk while announcements and other things were said by people involved; they belittled several nations and ignored others. Thankfully, one can turn off the commentary also, and I highly recommend that you do so.
The highlights could have been two hours instead of one, but at least they included often-overlooked events such as shooting and equestrian, as well as all types of cycling. And, they did include "my Olympic moment" when Paul Hamm was mentally/emotionally stunned by his fall, but courageously finished the competition and came back to win the gold (they showed the fall and then his amazing final routine).
If you really enjoyed the opening ceremonies and found the living-art depictions of the various cultures to be excellent (they were extremely accurate "reconstructions" of paintings and sculpture), you will enjoy the set (so long as you turn off subtitles and commentary). If you love Greek contemporary culture, you will enjoy the closing ceremony (ditto re: subtitles and commentary). If your focus was strictly the sporting events themselves, you will find this set disappointing since only about 60 minutes out of the 502 are general highlights (plus another 60 of Greek highlights).

Olympic Figure Skating - Greatest Performances In History (2 Pack) Vol I, II Review

Olympic Figure Skating - Greatest Performances In History (2 Pack) Vol I, II

I give this DVD set 3 stars because having these performances available on DVD at all is nice to have. However, I don't think these DVDs are very well executed. Here are some of the reasons:
-- There's no menu that will allow the viewer to select the specific performance they want to see; instead, the viewer will have to rely on fast forwarding.
-- There seems to be no logical order of the performances. They're not organized chronologically, by men's, ladies' or pairs.
-- There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to who's included in these DVDs. By this I mean they've included performances of skaters who did NOT win gold medals such as Janet Lynn, Debi Thomas, Midori Ito, which is fine except that it is glaringly obvious that they omitted some of figure skating's most beautiful performers such as Linda Frantianne, Nancy Kerrigan, Michelle Kwan, and Sasha Cohen. In contrast to this, they've included both the long and short programs of Sarah Hughes who I think is the least decorated skater in terms of earning 1st place in other major competitions and is also the least beautiful skater to watch.
-- Video clips do not seem to have smooth transitions from one performance to another. At times it looks as though the film clips were just spliced together hap hazardly as if the film pieces broke and were reconnected.
In summary, I am glad to have these performances available on DVD but am particularly disappointed in not seeing some of figure skating's most beautiful skaters featured on this set.

I completely love this dvd set! even though I saw the olympics live,I still watch it all the time. There is the usual irritating nagative commentary from Dick Button, but, like we didn't expect that. The ladies programs include short and long programs for Sasha Cohen,Irina Slutskaya,Kimmie Meissner,Emily Hughes, and Shizuka Arakawa.Men's include:Yevgenei Plushenko,Jeffrey Buttle,Stephan Lambiel,Johnny Weir, and Evan Lysacek. There is also an excellent menu that allows you to get wherever you want to on the dvd.I definately say go for this one!

Nordic ski training for high performance sport covers the entire landscape for athletes and coaches. There is nearly 9 hours of run time and over 10,000 video clips. The DVD alternates between interviews with elite athletes, coaches, sports scientists and a superb professionally narrated script. There is so much knowledge on these disks that you will have to plan several sittings to absorb it. The discussion goes very deep into high-performance sports physiology, coaching and mental training. This training course integrates well with the technique DVD Nordic Skiing Technique. What we found amazing was of all the Olympic and World Champions interviewed for this project, over a dozen sports, that there was universal agreement on training. One has to credit xczone.tv and natural fitness labs for for bringing together national sports governing bodies, scientists and some of the greatest athletes alive to share key knowledge on training.
