The Art of Russian Massage Review

The Art of Russian Massage

I was born and grew up in Russia, and I had some training in Russian massage. I am also a certified massage practitioner here in the US, so I purchased the video with the purpose of reviewing of what I learned in Russia. I found the video not entirely useless, but only somewhat helpful. I wish instead of demonstrating cupping and honey massage Olena would focus more on the Russian massage techniques and demonstrated the application on the full body, not just the back.

Deep Tissue Massage and Myofascial Release: A Video Guide to Techniques

I am a licensed massage therapist and I purchased Art Rigg's "Deep Tissue Massage" manual about a year ago and loved it, but really needed to see what was being explained in the book. I had very high hopes for the DVD's and was not disappointed, rather the opposite, they exceed my expectations. Mr. Rigg's is an enjoyable instructure to watch, as well as extremely skilled and knowledgeable. It is apparent his goal is to help massage therapists become well-informed and successful practitioners. Cultivating touch, anatomy review, biomechanics, and working with injuries - together with hours of excellent demonstrations of applied techniques, you can't go wrong with this set. These videos move at a very comfortable pace, each building upon the next. The DVD format is ideal for easy reference. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and highly recommend this set to recent graduates of massage therapy programs as well as long-time practicing massage therapists.

As a teacher and educator for over 20 years, with my own educational products, I enthusiastically recommend Til's DVDs to students looking for that extra knowledge to deal with virtually every complaint or request for improved body function or posture. His entire set or individual DVDs are very well produced and clear; his explanations are precise and easy to grasp; and seeing Til perform the work in real time gives a huge advantage over just reading about techniques in a book. Til is a great teacher with a wealth of knowledge presented here. The knowledge you gain from this set will pay for the cost of the DVDs in the first few days as clients will immediately notice the difference in your work and become regulars who will refer their friends.
Do check out Til's website ([...]) for more detailed information about the DVDs and for Til's schedule of excellent workshops.

I bought a couple of the individual videos included in this pack and then I found there was a combo pack that had them all. Because of the discount, essentially, I could have had all those videos I already bought and some others for free..
I think the vids are a good basis for learning about massage. I'm thinking about just ponying up and buying the rest.
Best of luck to you

Pregnancy Massage Therapy DVD This video demonstrates massage techniques that meet the special needs of pregnant mothers. These techniques reduce body pain, increase circulation, address low back and hip pain, prevent leg cramps, and help the mother sleep well to full term. Full body massage can be done safely from conception to labor and delivery. Prenatal massage is becoming the standard of care for mothers who want to be as comfortable as possible throughout their entire pregnancy. For the majority of pregnant mothers, their hips and low backs cause the most problems. This is due to hormonal changes that prompt muscles to tighten in order to protect joints. Prenatal massage that focuses on these areas can reduce and often eliminate discomfort. In addition, proper pillowing for sleeping removes nighttime strain on the hip structure and eases symptoms of sciatica. Proper pillowing can also allow a mother to sleep on her back through full term. Baby Massage Therapy DVD This baby massage video takes the viewer through step-by-step instructions by breaking down the massage process into easy to follow directions. This video makes baby massage an easy process to learn providing a simple way to make a great connection and provide significant health benefits to your baby. Baby massage provides vital bonding and health benefits. Below are just some of the many benefits of infant massage: Improves circulation Enhances senses Fosters trust in parents Reduces stress Improves digestion Assists drainage of lymphatic fluid Enhances the immune system

Relaxation music or mood music is essential in this process. The body subconsciously takes cues from sound and transfers that reaction directly to the muscles. So, it is important to control what sounds are heard. Relaxation music is the most effective means of controlling the ambient sound and substituting soothing sounds designed to relax. Relaxation music can range from the sound or rain or the beach to the sounds or crickets at night. Sounds of the San Diego Beach: Massage Relaxation Sounds CD This CD features digitally sampled and master sounds recorded on location in San Diego at a relaxing beachside location.

Not just for this video, but for the whole Advanced Trainings DVD series (own them all and attended the seminars), they are a wealth of knowledge and a fantastic approach to MFR techniques. All techniques are instructed by Advanced Certified Rolfers in a simple and concise way. If you are looking to improve your bodywork techniques with better results to follow, this is a great place to start. The Advanced Trainings crew have given me a completely brand new and broader sense of bodywork and it's possibilities. I am forever grateful.

I highly recommend this DVD on feet, knees and legs. I was particularly helped by the techniques for foot and knee - they were new and interesting and I've had great results with them. Bodywork on the foot makes a huge impact on knee and low back pain, and of course on foot problems themselves, and this DVD gives you some excellent ways to make a difference.
The whole series of Advanced Myofascial Techniques DVD's is excellent (I've used several now). They are shot at actual seminars and training sessions so they include hands on demonstrations of the technique with responses from the recipient, live student questions, instructor explanations.

Although many of these techniques were familiar from massage school, this video really shows how to put them together and when it is appropriate to use them. She also goes into nice detail about which techniques to use for which issues - the video comes with a summary book that describes the disorders & associated techniques, which is a nice reference tool. I found it to be very helpful, and it gave me more confidence when I did my first event massage.
Note - if you have taken a course in sports massage, then you probably won't learn anything new from this, but if you are new to it, then it is a good introduction.
