(More customer reviews)this is a 5dvd set, absolutely amazing, ton of info., great way to develop a sick skill set. sean will progress you through all the steps in a very doable manner. as a player, and a coach i highly recommend this product, if more americans buy this and learn to be team players, we will soon be on par with the canadians. roughly 10 hr.s of video, alot to digest, will help take players to another level if the player is dedicated to practicing and applying, you will see the art of stickhandling differently. you will see the sound techniques and priciples instead of just quick hands and freestyling. now if you already have quick,soft hands........ WATCH OUT,HERE COMES THE CLINIC!

(More customer reviews)I have about 20 hockey skills videos I have accumulated in the last few years, but none of them compare to this video. The video in the this 4 disc set clearly illustrate how teams should play together. The first video covers team offense and various ways a team can enter the zone and attack off the rush. It discusses when to dump and chase and explains why the second forward should drive hard to the net to force the defense back leaving the third forward open. And it discusses isolating a defender to create a 2-on-1 situation and proper puck support. The second video is all about proper defensive play - positioning and responsibilities of the defenders and the forwards. This video also illustrates proper defensive reads and plays during a breakout based on time and space. It also discusses the defender without the puck supporting a puck carrying defender (reading the situation and knowing where to be). The third video is by far the best. Covers team play. The third video is worth the price of the 4-disc set by itself. It shows how the offense and defense have to play as a unit with everyone moving up and down the ice together in a system. Covers 2-1-2 forecheck and 1-2-2 forecheck in detail=(offensive zone and neutral zone). Video clips are typically shown a couple of times to illustrate the concepts with narrator explaining what is going on. I haven't watched the 4th disc yet, but I can say that this set is worth the money. I have watched videos 1-3 at least 4 times each and continue to learn more each time I watch. Video quality is excellent and you could easily use these videos in off ice sessions with your team to show them what you are trying to teach them. If there was a 6th star I could give this video set I would.

Laura Stamm's Power Skating DVD Review

I have other "how to do it" DVD's on hockey skating, and they are pretty good but not in the same league with this one. Laura's book, together with this DVD cover everything you need to know. Doesn't matter if you are using it to teach yourself, or somebody else she very effectively covers this complicated issue in a clear, easy way to understand. Even if you are already a good skater and want to improve your game...this is it.
So...why did I get this DVD? I am teaching my 9 yr. old to play hockey. I have never coached before and wanted a 'bible' to use as refrence so I bought Laura's accompanying book (same title). The book is a wee bit 'dry' and difficult to use with a kid. Getting the DVD was the best thing I could have done to help him understand what it takes to become an accomplished and powerful skater. The skaters who demonstrate the basic techniques on the DVD are perfect for showing what to do and what not to do.
Parents, coaches and players...get this book. You will not be sorry!
