ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) - Heatwave '98 (1998) Review

ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) - Heatwave '98 (1998)

With the resurgence of ECW in the public eye on WWF television, more casual wrestling fans may find an interest in learning about the revolutionary promotion that changed the face of sports entertainment in the mid to late `90s. Touted by many (with GOOD reason) as ECW's best Pay-Per-View, Heatwave '98 featured 6 GREAT matches. This DVD recounts all 6 matches, plus all the promos and backstage antics from the Pay-Per-View (aired August 2, 1998 from the Hara Arena in Dayton, Ohio). Included on the DVD are the match histories detailing the feuds and situations at the time written by Michael Johnson II of 1wrestling.com, the same guy who wrote the wrestler bios for the other ECW DVDs and the ECW website. Johnson's match history write-ups provide nice background and sets the tone nicely for the matches. I recommend reading his write-ups BEFORE watching the matches.
Here are the matches and line-up for the program:
Heatwave `98
Your commentators are Joey Styles and "The Franchise" Shane Douglas (w/ Francine)
1.Justin Credible (w/ Jason, Nicole Bass and Chastity) vs. Jerry Lynn: Summer Series Finale. This was the cap off match to the big feud these two had during the summer of '98. Solid wrestling match between these two with several high spots, great technical wrestling and all participants getting involved. The brutal finish to the match is one for the highlight reel. 4 ½ stars.
2.Lance Storm vs. Chris Candido (w/ Tammy Lynn Sytch): Grudge Match Between Former Partners. This match was also a cap off to a feud between both men. Again, this is another solid match between two great workers with great technical wrestling and solid aerial spots. Like the previous match, the ending is also one for the highlight reel. 4 ½ stars.
3.New Jack promo with the fans outside the arena, featuring appearances by the Dudleys, Balls Mahoney and Axl Rotten.
4.Rob Van Dam, Sabu and Fonzie Promo
5.Masato Tanaka vs. Mike Awesome: AWESOME match between these two as always. This is another GREAT match in the loooong history in the continent spanning war between these two gladiators. Lots of power moves, lots of aerial moves, tables and chairs mark this match. In another moment for the highlight reel, there is this one TOTALLY KILLER spot (emphasis on KILLER) that the crowd and even the announcers cringed at. 4 ¾ stars.
6.Taz promo
7.Dudleys promo
8.RVD and Sabu (w/ Fonzie) vs. Hayabusa and Jinsei Shinzaki: ECW Tag Title Match. Shinzaki may be better known to American fans as Hakushi from the mid-90s WWF. AWESOME match. It's aerial and martial arts warfare from 4 of the best workers in the world. Hands down, to me this was THE best match of the night and realistically, one of the best matches I've ever seen!!! Jaw dropping back and forth war with TONS of high spots, TON of martial arts, tables and chairs in this one. The match was a virtual highlight reel!!! 5 stars.
9.Highlights Package featuring Taz' war with the Triple Threat.
10.Taz vs. Bam Bam Bigelow: FTW Championship Match. Falls Count Anywhere Death Match. Hard-hitting, intense and BRUTAL brawl across the arena, notable for yet another jaw dropping, unbelievable moment. It was a battle so intense, not even the ground could hold it... 4 ¼ stars for the match, 5 stars for the finish!!!
11.The Dudleys (Buh Buh Ray, D'Von and Big Dick, w/ Jeff Jones, Joel Gertner and Sign Guy) vs. The Sandman, "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer and Spike Dudley: Dudleyville Street Fight. This is a big pay-off match to the intertwined feuds all three faces had with the Dudleys. Fun match complete with the classic Dudley and Sandman ring intros. Classical ECW arena-spanning brawl featuring tables, ladders, chairs, canes, etc... ECW at its best. 4 ½ stars for the match. 5 stars for the Intro
Overall, this Pay-Per-View has been noted as ECW's best for good reason. All 6 matches on this card were just top notch. The two opening matches were solid scientific classics, Tanaka and Awesome was a WAR (plus that INSANE bump), the Tag Match was just AWE INSPIRING and the two top matches featured the hard-hitting, hardcore style that made ECW famous.
Though the card may look small (with only six matches) and the run time on the DVD may be just a little over two hours (with NO special features other than the match histories), Heatwave '98 proves the old adage about "quality" vs. "quantity." ECW became famous for giving its fans their monies worth in action. Heatwave '98, with six of the best matches you'll see on a wrestling card, does just that.
Highly Recommended

WWF Ringleaders Collection (The Rock - The People's Champ / Stone Cold - Hell Yeah / Mick Foley - Hard Knocks and Cheap Pops) (2002) Review

WWF Ringleaders Collection (The Rock - The People's Champ / Stone Cold - Hell Yeah / Mick Foley - Hard Knocks and Cheap Pops) (2002)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been a wrestling fan since 1996 and have watched all kinds of wrestling. I have a wrestling DVD/VHS collection spanning over 50 all together. This is the most complete and accurate review of this DVD you will find. I hope you find this review helpful; remember to vote helpful or not helpful. (Note-Each DVD I review has a "Match of the DVD" award somewhere in it.)
WWE Ringleaders Collection
This is a Box Set of 3 DVDs: Hell Yeah- Stone Cold's Saga Continues, The Rock- The People's Champ, and Mick Foley- Hard Knocks & Cheap Pops. The only really good one is Foley's, but all together this set is worth the buy.
WWE - Hell Yeah: Stone Cold's Saga Continues
This DVD is follows the same idea as "Austin 3:16- Uncensored" and "`Cause Stone Cold said so" in that they are period pieces of Austin's Career. This DVD starts you at Austin's first WWF Title win at Wrestlemania XIV, and eventually ends with his match at Backlash 1999 with The Rock. You don't get any full match; you just get clips of what happened in the matches. You also get clips of what happened in between the PPVs.
Hell Yeah is one of the better Stone Cold period pieces. He talks out of character about how things affected him. The DVD itself is fairly well done. Stone Cold narrates it, and you can really see the type of person he is at times. You get a bunch of generic stock music during the match clips, but it is well done and works well with the match.
Extras consist of wrestlers commenting on what they think about Austin. Some of the people that talked were The Rock, Jim Ross, Triple H, Jeff Jarrett, and Road Dogg. You also get 5 segments that involved Austin; this includes Dr. Austin and Austin throwing Rock's Intercontinental Championship into a river. You also get a bunch of extras from previous Austin titles like Austin 3:16 and `Cause Stone Cold said so. Finally, you will get a little extra DVD that shows a little past Backlash 99; It even shows clips from the infamous Over the Edge 1999.
This is an okay DVD. WWE put out a lot of period pieces around this time and they are fun to watch when you get bored. I think the fact that this DVD has no extra matches, but is full of parts from other DVDs, is the reason I give this 3 stars.WWE - The Rock - The People's Champ
Much like many superstar DVDs of this time, you get a feature that goes over a segment of The Rock's career. This DVD however is different than something like WWE - Hell Yeah: Stone Cold's Saga Continues in that it focuses more on The Rock outside of the ring instead of his in-ring feuds and matches. This is a nice change from the other DVDs, but if you aren't into what The Rock is doing on his days off than you're out of luck.
This DVD starts around WWE King Of The Ring 1999 and ends at The Rock's Royal Rumble win at WWE Royal Rumble 2000. In between that you will see The Rock hanging out in Miami: buying clothes, getting his haircut, and talking trash. This is all fairly interesting and you'll enjoying watching it. Other then The Rock hanging out, you will see clips from his feuds with: Triple H, Billy Gunn, Undertaker, and Big Show. You will also get a look at his teaming with Mankind.
The extras consist of 9 Rock segments and 8 Rock interviews. There is a slide show, but it's one of the most useless things they could've added. There are no extra matches. The segments and interviews are really funny though and worth checking out. They aren't enough to pull this DVD above three stars though.WWE - Mick Foley - Hard Knocks & Cheap Pops
Who would've expected me to give this DVD five stars? I usually hate DVDs that only show a period of the superstar's career, but this one is so well done. First of all, you have Mick Foley narrating the DVD. He can make really makes this DVD very entertaining to watch and is constantly making you laugh. He even goes into detail about the wrestling business and his feuds.
This DVD actually highlights the best period in Mick's career, mid-1999 to late 2000. You will hear about: his relationship with The Rock, his feud with Al Snow, his barbaric feud with Triple H, and his very comedic role as Commissioner. The DVD is very well done and keeps you into the program.
Extras Include-
Entrance Music for Mick Foley (Commissioner), Mankind, Cactus Jack, and Dude Love
WWF Championship (IYH- Mind Games)
Shawn Michaels(c) VS Mankind
I'm sorry but this match is nowhere near as good as what other people say. It is still a very solid match; it just lacks something to make it special. Still, this has some good wrestling and a few nice spots.
RATING- 8/10
Steve Austin VS Mankind (Raw Nov. 1996)
This was a good Raw match that ended with a lot of interference. Most everything else is forgettable at best. This is a good brawl worth a watch.
RATING- 7/10
Empty Arena Match (Halftime Heat)
WWF Championship
The Rock(c) VS Mankind
This was the first Empty Arena Match, and the second WWF title win for Mankind. The Rock talks a ridiculous amount of trash as they brawl through the entire arena. I felt like the ending was too fake looking though. The match is as entertaining as their other matches though.
RATING- 8.5/10
Special Referee- Vince McMahon (Over the Edge 1998) (Match of the DVD)
WWF Championship
Dude Love VS Steve Austin(c)
Now we come to over glorious Match of the DVD. How odd that this is a Dude Love match. The rules change multiple times in the match. At first it is a normal match, but soon becomes a no disqualification, falls count anywhere match. Both men go all out; Dude Love even hits a Sunset Flip off the top of a car. There are tons of other great moments.
RATING- 9.5/10
Kennel from Hell (Unforgiven 1999)
Al Snow VS Big Boss Man
Why would Mick Foley choose this piece of garbage to show us? The reason is simple; he wanted to make fun of it. Mick and Michael Cole do commentary over the match and make fun off it the entire way. The concept is that there is a steel cage and a Hell in a Cell lowered. The wrestlers would fight inside the steel cage. In between the steel cage and HIAC would be rabid trained dogs. You read it right...rabid...trained...dogs. Horrible match made cool through Mick's commentary.
RATING- 5/10

WOW!! It's all I can say. I just purchased this set last week and had just finished watching the last tape. And believe me, I am in awe.
Now for those of you nostalgia buffs out there, you are going to love this!! Wrestlemania 1 through 15 are contained in this box set and believe me, no stone is left unturned!
Every tape is uncut and features the original opening of each Wrestlemania. All of the interviews are here, as well as clips leading up to most matches (which definitely made me take a trip down memory lane).
I read a review from someone saying that these tapes were edited. Believe me when I tell you this, THEY ARE NOT. Every waking moment from each Wrestlemania has been preserved in these cassettes. These tapes are so in-depth, even the merchandising commercials are contained on some of them! And in Wrestlemania V, they showed a commercial during the show containing Hulk Hogan's new movie (at the time), 'No Holds Barred'. Now if they were going to edit these tapes, you'd think they'd take stuff like this out.
You'll see all the special guests from each era, including Muhammad Ali, 'Mr. Baseball' Bob Ucker, Vanna White, Mary Hart, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Cyndi Lauper, etc. It's all here!!!
The one (and only) beef I have with this set is the playback mode. The WWF produced this tapes in EP (extended play) mode, thus the quality isn't as good as it could be. But I do believe if they sold these tapes in normal SP mode, the price of this set would have easily been doubled.
Relive your favourite moments in WWF history with this box set. It is beyond the shadow of a doubt the best thing I own!
From the days of HULKAMANIA to the WWF's current 'attitude', you will love this set.

ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) - Wrestlepalooza '97 Review

ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) - Wrestlepalooza '97
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was a major ECW event that was held back in May of '97 to set up for their next PPV (ala WCW's Clash Of The Champions or WWF's Saturday Night's Main Event) and Rick Rude joined Joey Styles on commentary for the main event matches.
Television Champion Shane Douglas vs. Chris Chetti - The best part of this match was the prematch promo when Shane Douglas completely buried the Philadelphia Flyers for being "swept" in the Stanley Cup finals. Besides that, it was an average wrestling match that went around 7 minutes but Chetti was impressive for being a rookie at this time.
The Pitbulls vs. F.B.I. - This was nothing more than a comedic tag team match as most of the F.B.I.'s matches were as Guido & Smothers got in their comedic spots before the Pitbulls beat them with their power moves.
Dudley Boyz vs. Sandman & Balls Mahoney - This was an enjoyable just a brawl from bell to bell.
ECW Champion Terry Funk vs. Chris Candido - Before the match, there was an emotional speech by Stevie Richards who had a neck injury & had to forfit the title shot. The match for the most part was dominated by Candido before Terry Funk pulled out the victory out of nowhere. A match that wasn't anything special but watchable.
Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven - Their final encounter & this match showcases what was great about the ECW enviroment...anywhere else you go in wrestling at this time, if you knew that a wrestler was leaving the company after a match, you know they were going to lose & put the other guy over but you weren't sure here still just based on the fact that Tommy never beat Raven for over 2 years. The had fighting through the crowd & all around the arena & Raven using all of his tactics & members of his nest to stop Dreamer who just wouldn't be denied this time. ECW classic here but it got overshadowed by what happened after the match involved the returning "Mr. Monday Night", Jerry "The King" Lawler and the rest of the ECW locker room.
(Also available on "Rise & Fall Of ECW")
Taz vs. Sabu - This was the rematch from Barely Legal but this match was less than 10 minutes & was just a backdrop to the storyline that was being setup for the next match but it was a good match for the short time it had.
Television Champion Shane Douglas vs. Taz - After Douglas had been taunting Taz for the past couple of mins., they fought in a 3 min. challenge for the TV belt which Taz choked out Douglas to win the TV belt.
Tag Team Champions Eliminators vs. Dudley Boyz - Saturn had a torn ACL & was scheduled for surgery so Kronis fought this match alone & was beat up by the Dudleys a majority of the match with Saturn occassionally coming in to help him out but the ending to this match is something you would never expect concidering the circumstances.
This event had more plot twist and unexpected appearances that would crap on a majority of the WWE/WCW PPV's during that time period. If your a fan of a show that's worth your $$$ from top to bottom, this is highly recommended.

Hardcore Forever (2007) Review

Hardcore Forever (2007)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In a nutshell, this is the 3 non-WWE owned Extreme Championship Wrestling (the original promotion, not the Sci-Fi channel stuff) related projects put together in one big boxset. These three projects are Forever Hardcore Documentry, and both Hardcore Homecoming events held in the old ECW arena. In all of these DVD sets, they can't use any ECW copywrites (mainly footage) and can only use fan photos & footage from the Hardcore Homecoming event & the old XPW wrestling federation to get certain points across. Here's what you get with everything:
HARDCORE HOMECOMING
This was the alternative of the WWE's "ECW: One Night Stand" event in 2005. Disc one was the actual event featuring Chris Chetti & Mikey Whipwreck vs. C.W. Anderson & Simon Diamond, Blue Meanie vs. Tracy Smothers, 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Kid Kash, New Jack & Kronus vs. Bad Breed, Jerry Lynn vs. Justin Credible, Sandman vs. Raven, and a no ropes barbed wire 3 way dance between Terry Funk vs. Shane Douglas vs. Sabu. The second disc was full of behind the scenes events like a hidden New Jack promo, a tour of the former ECW area, Axl Rotten with the fans outside, Shane Douglas & Francine meeting for the first time in years, and watching the fans enter the area as the doors open, the "Q&A" session after the event. There's an interview with Axl Rotten & another one with Blue Meanie who talks about the events at both ECW events from the weekend & gives his side of the story involing the assault by J.B.L. Matches from the XPW promotion (since they couldn't use any ECW footage) featuring Douglas vs. Candido with an apparence from Sabu, Douglas vs. Funk, Douglas vs. Justin Credible, Jerry Lynn vs. Juventud Guerrera & a hidden match between Axl Rotten & Kronus. There's also snippets & outtakes from the "Forever Hardcore" documentry with the wrestlers talking about things revoling around Hardcore Homecoming along with a hidden clip of Joey Styles telling a story about an incident involing his wife, Dawn Marie, Electra and their boobs. Commercials & video clips from the website round out the DVD extras.
HARDCORE HOMECOMING: NOVEMBER REIGN
This was the final farewell show & a chance for those who were unable to work the first show a chance to work in the ECW arena again. The disc one matches feature Blue Meanie vs. Danny Doring, C.W. Anderson vs. Matt "Spike Dudley" Hyson, Balls Mahoney vs. Kronus, Shane Douglas vs. Pitbull #2 in a Dog Collar Match, the rematch of the original Taipei Death Match between Ian & Axl Rotten, Jerry Lynn vs. PJ "Justin Credible" Polaco, and a tribute to Terry Funk. Due to the Team 3D vs. Sabu/Terry Funk not legally allowed to be on this DVD set, the second disc heavily makes up for it in extras. You get matches from the Hardcore Homecoming show in Pittsburg featuring Blue Meanie vs. Tracy Smothers, Danny Doring & Roadkill vs. Chris Chetti & C.W. Anderson, hardcore 3 way between Ian Rotten vs. New Jack vs. Balls Mahoney, and Jerry Lynn vs. Justin Credible. Also there are two XPW matches between Shane Douglas vs. Vic Grimes along with Jerry Lynn vs. Psichosis vs. Juventud Guerrera. Three archival matches between Chris Benoit vs. 2 Cold Scorpio, Al Snow vs. Sabu with an appearence from Terry Funk, and Rey Mysterio vs. Juventud Guerrera. Vince Russo & Ed Ferrara's comments on ECW and a hidden extra of highlights from Public Enemy's time in XPW round out this DVD set.
FOREVER HARDCORE: DIRECTOR'S CUT
This was the best non-WWE documentry I've ever seen and is the perfect counterpiece to "Rise & Fall Of ECW." You hear stories from wrestling historians, former WWE/WCW behind the scenes talent, and the icons of ECW that weren't under a WWE contract at the time so you get all the stories raw & uncut. Also they have opinions from those who were in WWE/WCW behind the scenes & wrestling historians. Todd Gordon; Shane Douglas; Sandman & Raven; Sabu; Konnan; and New Jack all tell their side of stories & angles involving them that WWE told on their DVD. There's also stories that WWE didn't tell on their DVD that get told here like the angle where Shane Douglas broke Pitbull #2's neck; the hardcore fued between Axl & Ian Rotten; the incident where Terry Funk was caught on fire by Cactus Jack; the falling out of Francine & Shane Douglas; New Jack & Vic Grimes balcony fall that almost ended their lives; the story of the "Born To Be Wired" match between Funk & Sabu; and how former WWE writer Terry Taylor talks about how he openily stole ECW ideas for WWE storylines (which Vince denied on the WWE DVD). Disc two includes interviews outtakes & extra stories along with hidden extras such as a tour of the ECW arena. The XPW matches on here are Sabu vs. Terry Funk, Shane Douglas vs. Chris Candido, New Jack vs. Vic Grimes, Jerry Lynn vs. Chris Hamrick, Sandman in a brawl against Konnan & Psichosis, and two hidden matches between Chris Chetti vs. Chris Hamrick & Sabu vs. Kronis.
In the end, this is the last of the REAL ECW that you will have the chance to see so pick this up if you haven't gotten these 3 DVD sets already.

WWF Survivor Series 2001: Team WWF vs. Team Alliance - Winner Take All (2001) Review

WWF Survivor Series 2001: Team WWF vs. Team Alliance - Winner Take All (2001)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This had to be the most important PPV of the year besides WM x-seven, because it would decide what entity would survive. The WWF or the WCW/ECW Alliance. The theme song for this PPV is "control" from Puddle Of Mud, Not my first choice for a theme, but then again not horrible, alright i'll rate the matches 1-5 stars and review them.
1) WWF European Championship
Christian (champion) Vs. Al Snow
This match was pretty much a bonus because it was made on sunday night heat, good opener but pointless match, good match overall.
2.5 stars out of 5
2) Tajiri Vs. Alliance Commisioner Willaim Regal
Another decent match, after the match ends Regal feels the need to keep returning to the ring to lay it on Tajiri some more, it gets to the point where u just say to yourself, "go away please"
2.5 stars out of 5
3)Championship Unification Match
Edge (WCW U.S. Champion) Vs. Test (WWF Intercontinental champion) The winner of this match was to keep there job no matter the out come of the Winner Take All Match. A really good bout with some high spots. Edge wins which latter sets up Test joining the Immunity battle royal to try and secure his job.
3 out of 5 stars.
4)Steel Cage Tag Team Unification Match
Hardy Boyz (WWF Tag Team Champions) Vs. Dudly Boyz (WCW Tag Team Champions) Awesome match with a dramatic finish, matt Hardy climbs over the cage, whick is a foolish mistake and leaves his brother alone, when Jeff climbs to the top to escape and win he decides to take a foolish chance and dive off the cage threw Bubba on the table, Bubba moves and Jeff gets wood, Dudlyz win.
4 out of 5 stars.
5)Immunity Invitational Battle Royal
Featuring 22 WCW/ECW and WWF superstars
Before the match Test beats up Scotty 2 Hotty in the back and takes his spot in the battle royal. Whichs makes it kinda obvious who is going to win, but you never know with the WWF. This isnt exactly WM x-seven. Anyways Test wins and gains immunity for 1 year, meaning he cant be fired for a year.
4.5 stars out of 5
6) Six Pack challenge for the Women's Tile
Lita Vs. Jaqueline Vs. Trish Vs. Ivory Vs. Molly Holly Vs. Jazz
Good womens bought for the title, ends when trish uses the Stratusfaction for the win, (Wow is she hot lol)
3 out of 5 stars.
7)Team WWF vs. Team Alliance
Winner Take All Elimination Match
Team WWF: The Rock, Chris Jericho, Undertaker, Kane, Bigshow
Team Alliance: Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Rob van Dam, Booker T, and Shane Mcmahon.
Here we go, the match most of us have been waiting for, hoping that the Alliance would come to an end, This match didn't fail to deliver, with numerous high spots, the biggest high spot, the ending. When it is down to The Rock and Austin. Kurt Angle comes down to the ring and hits Austin right in the head with his own Title. It is truly an awesome ending, Kurt angle acted as the mole for the past month to help the WWF rid the Alliance. Another high spot to me was to see Paul Heyman's stupid expression after he realized he was out of a job, kodak moment.
5 out of 5 stars no doubt.
DVD Extras: Yes DVD Extras! about time.
1st extra is A day of a WWF superstar. Which is Edge talking about how he became a wrestler ETC...
2nd Extra: After Math on Raw. This is everything important that happened the following night on raw. the firing of Paul Heyman, Vince calling for security to take his princess away, and Regal joining the Vince Mcmahon kiss my rear club. (dont watch ehhhh nasty..) The final little extra is the concluding moments of raw where Rick Flair (woooooooo) comes into the WWF to tell Vince that they are now partners. After that Austin comes out and dominates Angle and Vince and gets his Belt back, Austin and Flair then drink a beer together.
5 star PPV no doubt, thanks for bearing with me and reading this very long review, but at least you got the fullest of what to expect if you purchase this DVD, get it now and watch the Alliance finally die.

I would not recommend this for true ECW fans due to the December to Dismember PPV sucking, but I would recommend you get the other videos at the regular price. I have all of the ones but the Van Dam video and D2D. I've seen the Van Dam video and it's pretty sweet so I really think if you are a WWE fan and you want the true feeling of ECW, it's the way to go.

ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) - Guilty as Charged 2001 (2002) Review

ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) - Guilty as Charged 2001 (2002)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In a time of today where WWE ruled the wrestling world, it's not too cool to see that they are the only one that's offering the product on a mass audience scale, and it doesnt even look as good as it could be. Makes me long for the days when there was actual competition from other companies, like ECW. Guilty As Charged 2K1 was the last Pay Per View ever done by the Philadelphia company, and it turned out to be one of the better ones they ever did in their history. While the show may not be as good as it can be in some areas, it is still better than what the WWE is offering today. Here are the match-by-match breakdown:
1. The Network (Jerry "New F'n Show" Lynn and Cyrus) Vs. Josh Matthews and Christian York: Not much of a match as the Baldies crashed Matthews' and York's entrance and pummelled them all the way to the ring. Lynn and Cyrus came in and match ended with the Cradle Piledriver by Lynn to give the Network the W.
2. World Tag Team Championship match: Danny Doring and Roadkill (champs) Vs. Hot Commodity w/ Chris Hamrick and Electra- Great match from the tag teams with lots of technical moves and double teaming. Champs retain, then got beaten up by HC and Hamrick. Nova then comes to the rescue, which leads into...
3. Impromptu Match #1: Nova Vs. "Confederate Currency" Chris Hamrick- The New Nova shows off new attitude and moves and all. Great wrestling displayed here. The end was bad, though, with Chris Chetti, Lou E. Dangerously and Spike Dudley all got involved in the end. Nova wins it with the Kryptonite Krunch.
4. "I Quit" match: "The innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer Vs. CW "The Enforcer" Anderson- Brawling, technical wrestling, weapons and blood. This match has it all here. Lots and lots of sick bumps taken by both men in the match. In the end, Anderson submitted to TD.
5. 3 Way battle for the Tag Team Title's #1 Contenders status: "Japanese Buzzsaw" Yoshihiro Tajiri & Mikey Whipwreck Vs. Super Crazy & Kid Kash VS. The FBI- Now this is action-packed wrestling!! Very fast, very innovative match makes this the match of the show. The display of submission moves at one point in the match by all three teams was incredible. Tajiri and Whipwreck took this one after delivering simultaneous Tiger Suplexes on the FBI.
6. Chilly Willy & Balls Mahoney Vs. Simon Diamond & Johnny Swinger: Not much of a match here either, as Rhino came and destroyed all four combatants AND their valets (Jasmine and Dawn Marie). ALso, Blue Boy took a gore from Rhino too.
7. World Heavyweight Championship Match: Tables, Ladders, Chairs and Canes- The Sandman Vs. Steve Corino Vs. Justin Credible: As Francine and Jack Victory roamed around ringside, this match played itself out as an incredibly violent and exciting match from all three men.The Title is suspended above the ring. Lots of action and double teaming, with the TLCC's being employed very well by the all three. Sandman takes it here.
8. Impromptu Match #2: World Title- Rhino Vs. The Sandman: Rhino crashed Sandman's celebration and destroyed everyone in his sight. Then after extorting the Sandman to face him for the world title, he destroyed him with gores and piledrivers through tables. Rhino is YOUR last ever ECW champ.
9. Impromptu Match #3:Rhino Vs. Rob Van Dam- After the win, Cyrus came into the ring, congratulated his Man Beast for the win, and challenged anyone from any wrestling company to take on Rhino. "Walk" by Pantera hits, and we get RVD on the scene, back after filming "Black Mask 2" in Thailand. As Rhino and RVD was about to face off for the World Title, Jerry Lynn crashed the party, and Rhino fled with the belt. So with that, we have..
10. Main Event: Rob Van Dam Vs. Jerry Lynn- Lynn's wish to main event at the beginning of the show comes true, albeit against his nemesis, RVD. Not the best match out of their numerous encounters in ECW, but it is still good, with lots of action by both men. Cyrus interfered, which brought out Joel Gertner to DDT him, and RVD finished Lynn off with two of his chair-assisted finishers: the Van Daminator and the awesome Van Terminator.
So there you go, ECW's last ever show went down with a bang, and so did the company soon after. Much better show than a lot of the PPV's you get from WWE nowadays. A great show to pick up for any wrestling fan or ECW newbies.

Before they achieved world wide fame as WWF superstars, Buh Buh Ray and D'von were legends in ECW - 8 time world tag team champions. This DVD collects and chronicles their storied ECW careers including some of their best (hardcore) matches and best (riot incenting) promos. Needless to say, there's tons of M-E-A-N footage on here that are probably "not good for the kids." In all, if you're into mild to hardcore violence and horrendous "verbal assaults" you'll love this video. In addition, the DVD also contains 3 exclusive features.
Here's a rundown of the DVD's contents.
Your Host is Joey Styles.
1.Introductory video of the Dudley Boyz in action.
2.Clips of tons of people taking the 3D (Beulah, the Public Enemy, the Eliminators, the Gangstas, Spike Dudley) and Balls Mahoney getting put through a flaming table.
3.D'von cutting a pre-match promo where he blasts out Philly. Match 1: D'von and Axl Rotten vs. Buh Buh Ray and Big Dick Dudley. Pretty insane match spanning the arena. Tons of tables. 3 stars
4.Highlights of the night D'von and Buh Buh put aside their differences and finally joined forces thus signaling the beginning of their reign of terror. Beat down on Spike, Sandman and the Gangstas.
5.A championship montage. Highlights of 7 out of 8 of their championship crowning moments showing the Eliminators, Gangstas, Vam Dam and Sabu, Tanaka and Mahoney and Balls and Spike falling victim to 3D.
6.Another Dudley promo issuing an open challenge, including Joel Gertner's hilarious trademarked intro. Match 2: New Jack and Spike (with loud Dr. Dre/Ice Cube music) vs. D'von and Buh Buh (w/ Big Dick, Sign Guy and Gertner). Another crazy hardcore match with tons of painful weapons. The post-match beat down of New Jack, including a reciting of the Dudley commandments, is especially brutal. 4 stars
7.MY PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT OF THE VIDEO. Clips from the Madhouse of Extreme. Here we get about 10 minutes worth of the Dudleys trading verbal assaults with the NYC fans. It's the most brutal and surreal scene you'll ever see as the crowd and the Dudleys just rip into one another. ECW at it's best.
8.Match 3: Buh Buh, D'von and Big Dick (w/ Gertner and Sign Guy) vs. Tommy Dreamer, Sandman and Spike Dudley (w/ Beulah). So-so match, few nice spots but tons of non-action. The crowd's reaction to the Dudley's (particularly Buh Buh) makes it worthwhile. Funny part toward the end where Gertner fights Beulah. 2 ¾ stars.
9.Dudley's cut their last promo in ECW before their farewell match before leaving for the WWF.
10.Match 4: Dudley's Last Match in ECW - Balls and Spike vs. Buh Buh and D'von. Overall, an insane match which sees the trademarked cheese grater, thumbtacks and flaming table. 4 stars.
11.Post-match: The Dudley's cut a promo on Tommy Dreamers and Paul E. which leads to...
12.Match 5: Tommy Dreamer vs. the Dudley Boyz with the surprise return of Raven
13.The big, tearful, heartfelt "Dudley Farewell" ceremony post-post-match where the locker room clears out to join the audience in sending off the Dudleyz.
14.Match 6: The little scene "Dudleys homecoming return" match from December 2000 where they teamed with Tommy Dreamer to take on Simon Diamond, Johnny Swinger and C.W. Anderson. Funny stuff in here where Styles talks during the commentary about how they'll have to edit some of the more "non-TV friendly" match antics. Machetes, cheese graters, plus, Gertner molests Dawn Marie. 3 stars.
In addition, the DVD contains the following "Special Features."
1.D'von's ECW debut where he comes in during a Dudley pre-match promo to set Buh Buh, Sign Guy and Big Dick straight including a beat down of JT Smith and Little Guido.
2.THE FINAL ECW promo of Buh Buh and D'von given after their "Dudley's homecoming return" match in December 2000. Lotta heart in this one.
3.Bonus Match: Dudleys vs. Masato Tanaka and Balls Mahoney. Great extra match. Lots of chairs. 4 stars.
Overall, this is a good collection of the work of BUH BUH RAY and D'VON. You get some pretty decent matches, but it's actually all the promos that make this entertaining and makes it work for me. The collection does a good job of chronicling (basically only) Buh Buh and D'von's tenure in ECW.
I personally would have loved to have seen the ENTIRE Dudley family chronicled from when Dudley Dudley and Big Dick first broke in on the scene.
Overall, if you're a fan of the Dudley's from ECW, this is a pretty good collection. If you only know them from their WWF work, I recommend giving this a watch and seeing what more they are capable of.
Summed up, whether you rent, borrow or buy this is...
Highly Recommended (for Dudley fans)
Mildly Recommended (wrestling fans in general)
