Goju Ryu Karate Kata (Tsunami) Review

Goju Ryu Karate Kata (Tsunami)

How often can you watch a Karate master, filmed in their prime, demonstrating their art? Morio Higaonna demonstrates the twelve kata that make up the Goju Ryu Karate system, as well as applications of some of the movements. You do not have to be a practitioner of Goju to get a lot out of this video. And if you do practice Goju, you absolutely must have this video! An awesome reference guide, and very inspirational!

The Power of Uechi Ryu Karate Review

The Power of Uechi Ryu Karate
Average Reviews:

Having [dealt with] George Alexander of Yamazato Productions before, I can speak from experience. Alexander's techinque is simple: think of a fancy title, make a pretty box, then put a video tape of some poor home-movie video footage that looks like it was shot on a 1983 model Panasonic video camera.
This video is basically a poor-quality camcorder-made filming of one, typica Uechi-Ryu class at an Okinawan dojo. It includes warmups, drills, kata, etc., all shot in bad lighting and from bad angles. There is some tournament sparring near the end that looks like a 7th generation copy.
There is no narration or explanation of anything. This is not an instructional video. If you went to a dojo in your neighborhood and videotaped a normal class, then played it back again, this is what you would have. If you think that this video will reveal any "power" or "secrets" you will be sorely disappointed. In fact, stay away from ANY videos from Yamazato Productions or anything with the name George Alexander attached to it. ...

The Power of Uechi Ryu Karate This is an exciting video that shows the extreme power of this unique style of Okinawan karate. In 1897, an Okinawan by the name of Kanbun Uechi (1877-1948) traveled to China and studied martial arts. He was instructed in a typical tiger-crane style known as Pangai Noon. In 1948, the style was renamed Uechi Ryu by his son Kanei Uechi (1911-1988). Kanei continued to teach the style after his father's death. Today, Uechi Ryu is very popular in Okinawa. It is a style typified by powerful techniques, highly effective self-defense applications and dynamic strength building kata. This video also shows the rugged full-contact sparring Uechi Ryu is known for. This video is a must for the serious practitioner of Uechi Ryu karate and those interested in this unique karate style. 60 min.

Very good display of Kata, including showing an above view, would recommend to anyone starting out.
My only reason for dropping a star would be the sound quality, the drumming was at sometimes quite annoying
