WWE: Great American Bash 2005 Review

WWE: Great American Bash 2005
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was more like what you would view on an episode of smackdown. Half of the card was pathetic because of the mediocre roster smackdown had to work with.
1. U.S. Title 4 way
John Cena vs. Booker T vs. RVD vs. Rene Dupree
This was a great opener. This is one match I did not feel like I was going to fall asleep watching. All 4 men put on a great show and Cena is the victor in the match.
9/10
2. Luther Reigns vs. Charlie Haas
This was thrown together out of desperation. HORRIBLE and BORING match. Reigns wins.
2/10
3. Cruiserweight Title
Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero
solid match. great showing by mysterio and chavo. Its hard to believe that Rey is feuding with the big dogs(Orton, Henry, Angle) now.
8/10
4. Billy Gunn vs. Kenzo Suzuki
Why?!?!?! was this match sanctiioned? Useless card filler. Smackdown hardly had any talent to work with. Kenzo wins.
2/10
5. Torrie Wilson vs. Sable
Torrie is hot but she is not a wrestler. Sable was better when it was 1998, 1999. Bad ending. Sable wins. 3/10
decent
6. Hardcore Holly vs. Mordecai
Again, another useless card filler. A yawner of a match. Mordecai wins. 2/10
7. WWE Title Texas Bullrope Match
Eddie Guerrero(RIP) vs. JBL
Finally!!!!!!!!! a good match to review. A great match by these 2. They totally stole the show and turned it into a brawl. Guerrero should have retained and had a little longer title reign. JBL wins. 9/10
8. Concrete Crypt Match
Undertaker vs. Dudley Boyz
Confusing main event. Heyman keeps running his mouth in the match threatening Undertaker that he will drown Paul Bearer in the cement. Undertaker wins but the ending was shocking.
7/10
To me this was more like a regular Smackdown card to view on tv.

WWF: Survivor Series 2000 (2000) Review

WWF: Survivor Series 2000 (2000)
Average Reviews:

This was the PPV where Rock collided against Rikishi, Undertaker battled Kurt Angle, and Stone Cold Steve Austin destroying Triple H. This wasn't the greatest Survivor Series, but it was much better than Survivor Series 99'. Some of the matches where dull while some where good, my reviews down below.
6-person intergender tag team match
T&A and Trish Stratus vs. Steve Blackman, Crash Holly and Molly Holly
Good opener with the crowd getting into this match, the women kind of ruined this match.
Survivor Series elimination match
Radicalz vs. Billy Gunn, Chyna, Road Dogg and K-Kwik
Fast paced action, but got slow towards the end.
Chris Jericho vs. Kane
Okay match, but a little bit boring. Their match at Armageddon was better.
WWE European title match
William Regal vs. Hardcore Holly
Short match, with a terrible ending.
Rock vs. Rikishi
Great match with a lot of action, pretty short though.
WWE Women's title match
Lita vs. Ivory
Pretty good, but the ending was a DUD.
WWE Championship match
Kurt Angle vs. Undertaker
Long and slow. This was a good match, but Kurt Angle slowed it down too much. Shocking ending though.
Survivor Series elimination match
Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian and Right To Censor
Better than the first elimination match at the beginning of the night with a lot more action and tables!
No Disqualification match
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Triple H
I was expecting this match to be real quick and with Austin beating the hell out of HHH, but instead this match turned out to be kind of slow. These two have had better matches and this wasn't it. The ending is pretty crazy.
So there you have it, this was an okay Survivor Series with a couple of good matches and some dull matches. Check out Survivor Series 2001.

WWF: WrestleMania X-Seven (2001)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The three words "of all time" get thrown around a lot in this day and age, and I am not innocent of constantly uttering them myself, in effect watering down their significance. But when I say that Wrestlemania X7 is the greatest Wrestlemania -- even greatest PPV -- OF ALL TIME, I am not exaggerating. Everything from the opening montage to the post-main event celebration was electric live on PPV and none of that electricity is lost on DVD.
This was a Wrestlemania that WWF needed to succeed, what with the failure of the previous year's Wrestlemania 2000. The WWF attained that success with X7, in everything from the card to live attendance to PPV buys. Most of the matches had well built storylines and were just great matches in themselves. Another treat was the Gimmick Battle Royal featuring special appearances by the always-welcome Bobby Heenan and Mean Gene.
One aspect to this PPV that made it such a success was the diversity of the card. Wrestlemania 2000 was bogged down in tag team matches, triple threats and unproven wrestlers. X7, however, had something for everyone. Technical wrestling fans will drool over Benoit vs. Angle for years to come. Hardcore fans love the TLC II match. Fans of the over-the-top storylines were into the father vs. son match. And fans of the industry's top two stars at the time, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, will always remember fondly their main event that night on April Fool's day in 2001.
The DVD extras aren't much, but what do you need with extras when the PPV event itself gives you one hell of a show? Even with all of the positives on this show, there are some negatives. In the aformentioned father vs. son match, fans did not react well to Shane's WCW allegiance and this slightly took away from the impact of his win over Vince, although it was more Linda McMahon's win than Shane's. Also, some of the other matches just didn't click for whatever reason. Although a very decent opener, Regal vs. Jericho was a bit off, as the latter was going 100MPH and Regal just didn't seem to be in key that night. Chyna vs. Ivory was an atypical squash match akin to those we used to see on WWF Superstars in the late 80's. But one of the greatest advantages DVD has over VHS is the ability to go to the next scene instantaneously at the press of a button.
Wrestlemania is WWF(E) and pro wrestling at its best. Get this DVD.

well this event could of been a little better but still good. It started out with the hardy boyz and lita against t@a and trish stratus (7/10). perry saturn against eddy gurrero was average 7/10. acolytes against edge and christian was a snooze fest 4/10. Kurt angle vs. undertaker was better than i expected 8/10. y2j against hhh in a last man standing was the best match 9/10. The main event was chris benoit against the rock in a pretty good match 8/10. I would pass on buying but it is good for a rent or two.

WWE Vengeance 2002: Quick & Merciless (2002) Review

WWE Vengeance 2002: Quick and Merciless (2002)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is easily the hardest WWE DVD I've ever tried to find, but it was worth the 40 bucks I spent on it. The "Vengeance" PPVs from the WWE are always an entertaining event, but this 2002 edition is the absolute best of them all! Read on...
Bubba Ray and Spike Dudley take on then-recently returned Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit in a Table Match. This is a strange contest, because only one man is supposed to be in the ring at once, yet there are no DQs. However, this makes for some good Tag Team wrestling, especially from Benoit and Eddie. If you go in expecting a Tag Team match w/ less focus on Table spots, you're in for a solid experience. (7.5/10)
Jamie Noble defends the Cruiserweight Championship against Billy Kidman in an excellent contest. There's little-to-no involvement from Nidia, which lets these two great light-heavyweights put on a spectacular show. Not quite as good as their "Survivor Series 2002" matchup, but so what? (8.5/10)
The worst match is William Regal challenging Jeff Hardy for the now-shelved European Championship. The backstory is Regal cries when he loses his recent matches, which is an amusing setup. But both men are sloppy, and frankly don't look very good in this one. Could've been worthwhile, but just poorly executed. (4.0/10)
Now for some nostalgia, Chris Jericho accepts pre-thug John Cena's challenge for a "SmackDown" rematch. This is a solid contest between the rookie Cena (he was only w/ WWE for a month at the time) and Jericho. It isn't going to blow anyone's socks off, but it reminds me that Cena can freestyle-wrestle when given the chance. Won't shut up Cena's detractors, but maybe this will calm us down a bit. (6.5/10)
Rob Van Dam and Brock Lesnar compete for RVD's Intercontinental Championship in a King-of-the-Ring 'rematch', of sorts. The Michigan crowd is wild not just for RVD, but also for this fast-paced, hard-hitting blockbuster! I don't want to give away the ending, but it might disappoint some fans. But I forgive the decision because RVD and Lesnar kept battling it out w/ weapons afterwards. Also, the finish 'maintained' both men's careers. Tied with the main event for the best match on the card! (9.0/10)
While in the new nWo, Big Show and Booker T began a feud, and got booked for this PPV match. Vince McMahon then disbanded the nWo after some roster setbacks, yet this match stayed on the card. Booker and Show put on a No Disqualifications Match that's never boring, but not particularly good. However, there are some neat spots, and it won't take up much of your time. (5.5/10)
One huge attraction of this PPV isn't even a match at all. Triple H must choose a brand to wrestle for. It becomes an entertaining in-ring segment that was built-up for weeks, and came to a conclusion here. Without giving away too much, HHH rips on both Eric Bischoff (RAW GM) and Stephanie McMahon (SD GM and "ex-wife"), and everyone is entertaining while on the mike. To my pleasant surprise, this promo is worth the PPV airtime.
The next match is Christian & Lance Storm challenging Edge & Hollywood Hulk Hogan for the Tag Team Championships (the only belts at the time). The Un-American angle was a good one, and having Hogan/Edge win the titles on July 4th 2002 was also cool. So, this feud had a nice two-week build-up. As for the actual contest, Hogan is up to his usual tricks, while the other guys do most of the work. What can I say? Somehow Hogan is forgiven for his lack of participation. The tag team action could've been better, but the crowd is great, there's some neat interference, and the match is still worth a viewing. (6.5/10)
In the main event, the tremendous feud between The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, and The Rock came to a close in this energetic Triple Threat Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship (there was only one title back then). This is a rare example of chaotic buildup resulting in an even more frenetic match. I don't agree when Jim Ross yells, "greatest Triple Threat I've ever seen", but it's darn close. Stolen finishers, non-stop action, false finishes left-and-right, crazy crowd...this match just about has it all! It's missing the indescribable something to make the match perfect, but all three of these men deserved to win the title, making this main event a forgotten classic! (9.0/10)
OVERALL
To complement the strong PPV card, there are some neat Extras on the DVD:
* Hogan and Edge's Tag Team Title victory (solid match)
* Trust Company's music video of the PPV theme (good song)
* "WWE Confidential" coverage of Eric Bischoff (good stuff)
* Post-match interviews (more good promos)
The "Vengeance" PPVs have established a good legacy with the WWE PPV lineup. The first Undisputed Champion ('01), the PPV return of Kurt Angle ('03), two show-stealing title matches ('05), the return of DX ('06)...these events are always entertaining.
But this is the definitive "Vengeance"!
I don't give 5 stars to WWE PPVs or DVDs very often.
You may have to dish out some money for it, but with good Extras and an even better wrestling card, "Vengeance 2002" is worth it.

WWF: WrestleMania 2000 (2000) Review

WWF: WrestleMania 2000 (2000)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I remember watching this one live on PPV. Watching events live is always a more enjoyable experience than watching DVDs and looking back at them. "WrestleMania 2000" has some good stuff, but overall hasn't aged very well.
The Godfather & D'Lo Brown vs. The Big Bossman & Bull Buchanan
---After Godfather and D'Lo enter with an awkward musical performance from Ice-T, the Alabama boys come in and take charge. The Godfather doesn't do a whole lot, which is disappointing. Bossman & Buchanan execute some vicious teamwork, and D'Lo has always been a very good wrestler. An odd choice for a PPV opener, but solid overall.
"6.5 out of 10"
________________________________________________
13-Man Battle Royal for the Hardcore Championship
---For 15 minutes, these guys go at it for the Hardcore title. Once the time limit expires, whoever has the title wins the match. I'm glad to see the 24/7 madness get put aside for tonight. Also, the match is sometimes hilarious to watch, then suddenly a very rough battle. However, the big problem is that it wears thin very quickly --- too many superstars & too many weapons. Mildly amusing, but ultimately dumb and repetitive.
"5.5 out of 10"
________________________________________________
Al Snow & Steve Blackman vs. T&A
---A strange presentation with J.R. and King having some headset issues throughout the match, plus the crowd isn't into it. Who are we supposed to cheer for, anyway? There's an Al Snow mascot gag that's just weird, too. Test & Albert are very powerful wrestlers, and I always enjoyed their tag matches. Not bad, but most didn't seem to care.
"6.0 out of 10"
________________________________________________
Ladder Match for the Tag Team Championships
Edge & Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudley Boyz (champions)
---Just when people thought the "No Mercy 1999" Ladder match and the "Royal Rumble 2000" Table match couldn't be topped, here this one comes along. I didn't think I'd enjoy this one after over 20 Ladder & TLC Matches since April 1 of 2000. But it actually holds up very well. I think that's because the wrestlers aren't so desperate to top themselves. No crazy spots from before to surpass; just 6 guys performing naturally. Even though I still can't figure out why The Dudleyz wasted 5 minutes to set up tables, this classic is as superb as it was years ago!
"9.0 out of 10"
________________________________________________
Cat Fight with Val Venis as Special Referee
Terri vs. The Kat
---I actually get a huge laugh out of this one. Yeah, it's dumb and unnecessary, but it's not like anybody's taking themselves seriously here. A guilty pleasure meant to give us a good time cooling down from the Ladder Match.
"6.0 out of 10" (stupid yet funny)
________________________________________________
The Radicalz vs. Chyna & Too Cool
---I know Too Cool can wrestle a good tag team contest, and Chyna is as tough as they come. Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn, & Dean Malenko need no introduction. But this is basically The Radicalz being embarrassed by the happy-dance tag team, which is a shame. These six competitors were capable of stealing the show if they wanted too, but a lazy showcase that embarasses The Radicalz & hypes up the happy-dance tag team gimmick that annoyed the snot out of me. By the way, The Worm is the worst finishing move EVER!
"5.5 out of 10"
________________________________________________
Two-Falls Match for the Intercontinental/European Championships
Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle ("Euro-Continental" champion)
---First off, the DVD has three alternate commentaries for this match that everyone should listen to. So how's the match? I admire this match more than I love it; what's sad is the unrealized potential. I got the feeling that what I saw was very good, but more of a sign of better things to come. The two falls' finishes come just when a classic is being born. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good battle between three of the best technical performers to ever grace the business. But a quiet crowd and rushed finishes kind of hurt this one. However, it's worth noting that this match made the WWF's "Best of 2000" VHS tape...not the Ladder Match! All three men have had better matches later in their careers, but this is one of the evening's best contests.
"8.0 out of 10"
________________________________________________
Road Dogg & X-Pac vs. Rikishi & Kane
---I respect cool-downs for a main event, but this one doesn't hold up too well. I don't expect a classic, but these four guys give us a very lazy contest. Not terrible, but forgettable at best. Plus, the Pete Rose thing got old after "WM 15".
"5.0 out of 10"
________________________________________________
No DQ Elimination Match for the WWF Championship
A McMahon In Every Corner
Mick Foley (w/ Linda) vs. Big Show (w/ Shane) vs. The Rock (w/ Vince) vs. Triple H (champion - w/ Stephanie)
---It was easier to keep track of the nWo roster than explaining the McMahon Family's storylines. You won't care if you love Elimination Matches, but this was main event didn't live up to the great hype and well-documented history. I can watch either of these 4 guys in one-on-one matches and have a good time. But put 3 or 4 of them in the same ring at a time, you get nothing more than slugfest. The one word to sum this up would be "EPIC"! The main event clocks in at a monstrous 40 minutes before all is said and done. I'm afraid some viewers will get tired of this one, because it goes for a long time. When it gets down to the final two superstars, it gets pretty good. But then there are several run-ins that gave me a shock, but then just made me feel jipped and puzzled. Sorry to say this, but not one of the better "WrestleMania" main events.
"6.5 out of 10"
________________________________________________
I think the PPV is a disappointment, but then watch WWF use the DVD format to show off the goods (unlike today's WWE PPV DVDs):
* Disc 1 has the Triple Call Commentary for the Jericho/Benoit/Angle match, each very good. Angle brags about his success, and whines about getting screwed. Jericho is his usual sarcastic self, and just seems to have fun watching the match. Benoit gives us some background on his overseas travels, keeping things grounded and calm. Again, the Triple Call is an excellent bonus. Disc 1 also has histories on a few of the matches, and a brief behind-the-scenes featurette.
* Disc 2 was amazing for its time, and it's still pretty good. Each of the first 15 WrestleManias gets their own 12-to-14 minute coverage. Some of them are very well covered, while a few are quite the bore. Keep in mind, that there are barely any interviews or non-kayfabe moments. Also, some "WrestleManias" have all matches recapped, while some just focus on the main events. I hope the WWE considers improving upon for future "WrestleMania" DVDs, because I'd love to see this good first-try evolve into greatness.
________________________________________________
I recommend the "WWF WrestleMania 2000" DVD because of two excellent matches, and some very good DVD extras. But if you want just the PPV, get the "WrestleMania Anthology" instead.

Review:
Basically, WrestleMania's 16 through 20 have had alot more hits & misses than the previous WrestleMania's.
16 - "Quanity over quality" was the mentallity for this WrestleMania as they had a bunch of wrestlers & matches that would only qualify for Sunday Night Heat or RAW...but had no business being at WrestleMania like Godfather & D'Lo vs. BossMan & Bull, T&A vs. Snow & Blackman, Kat vs. Terri. Besides, the Terri & Kat match...were wasn't one single one on one match. The memorable matches from here are the WWF title Fatal Four Way, Intercontinental & European triple threat match, and the Tag Team title ladder match.
17 - The apex of the WWF Attitude era as they WWF hasn't produced a car or event like this to date. The only bad matches were the Chyna vs. Ivory squash match & the European title match. And the memorable matches from here were Angle vs. Benoit, Austin vs. Rock, McMahon family street fight, Triple H vs. Undertaker, and the TLC II match.
18 - Again, not a bad match here but they all a step under the previous years WrestleMania. Hogan vs. Rock was the real standout here & overshadowed every other match on the card (including the so-called main event between HHH & Jericho) but my second favorite had to be Undertaker vs. Flair with a special appearence by "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson doing the classic spinebuster on Taker.
19 - Again, another WrestleMania full of standard average matches and the only thing garbage here was the Miller Lite catfight girls segment that bumped Kane & RVD off the card. The memorable matches here McMahon vs. Hogan (just for the history behind it), Brock vs. Angle, HBK vs. Jericho and the final Rock vs. Austin match.
20 - The final installment & has three memorable matches here as Guerrero vs. Angle, Benoit finally winning the World Title, the Rock & Sock reunion vs. Evolution (the interaction between Flair & Rock is priceless). Cena vs. Big Show, Christian vs. Jericho, and the Womens title match were average. Other matches were basically just time fillers (Crusierweight open, both Tag Team title matches, evening gown match), didn't live up to all the hype (Undertaker's return against Kane was basically a squash match), and matches there were just horrible (Brock vs. Goldberg...not even Austin could save this one).
Overall, a good collection for those who didn't get into WWE until the Attitude era but if you've been around longer that than...this isn't the best section of WrestleMania's to look at.Responding To Some Questions:
"Why release WrestleMaina's that are already on dvd?"
They released WrestleMania's already on DVD because all the WrestleMania's before 19 are now out of print due to the lawsuit from the World Wildlife Federation. WWE can't use the logo they used during the attitude era & sell any new material featuring the logo. And it's pointless to release the old WrestleMania's individually with the new logo scratched out & everything since nobody will be rushing out to get an old WrestleMania with most of it being edited."hey guys i was wondering ive been trying to get answers all day but can somebody tell me if anybodys music is edited in 2000-2004 or themes does it come its in orginal case does it have its disc art i was wondering before i buy it today im buying vol .4 cause i loved these years so somebody tell me thank u so much guys"
After watching them all, I'll tell you that...
1) YES, some of the themes have been editied & replaced.
16 = Steve Blackman & Al Snow; T&A; The Kat
17 = The PPV theme song was Limp Bizkit's "My Way"...that's replaced with another song; Undertaker (he had Limp Bizkit at the time); some wrestlers for the gimmick battle royal
18 = Undertaker (Limp Bizkit); Edge (he had Rob Zombie at the time); nWo; Trish Stratus (they replaced her old theme with her current one)
19 = Victoria; Stacy Keibler; Hulk Hogan ("Voodoo Child" replaced with "Real American")
20 = Garrison & Cade; Stacy Keibler; Dudley Boyz; Jesse Ventura (if you even remember his theme); Victoria. They also edited out the entrances of Bobby Heenan & Ultimo Dragon since they slipped on the stage.
2) These all come together in the type of casing they used for the Ric Flair, Wrestlers Of The 80's, and Bret Hart DVD's but the disc have no cover art since they're double sided. Hope this helps.

WWE Backlash 2001 (2001) Review

6-Man Tag Team Match
The Dudley Boyz vs. X Factor
A not too long or too short of a match. Lots of moves that were directed down south of the human anatomy if you know what I mean. X Factor win the battle although they did not win the war at Backlash. Good Opener. 6.5/10
Hardcore Championship Match
Rhyno (c) vs. Raven
Hell Yes a brutal and fantastic hardcore match with a great diversity of weapons used within the match such as shopping trolleys, kitchen sink, stop signs etc. My favourite moment was when Rhyno gored the shopping cart after raven moved. I miss these hardcore matches. 10/10
Duchess of Queensburry Match
Chris Jericho vs. William Regal
An above-average match between Regal and Jericho in my opinion much better than their match at Wrestlemania 17 and much longer. The downside to this match is that stupid duchess kept changing the rules of the match into the favour of Regal. First no win by submission and also no Dq although Jericho did get his revenge on duchess through the walls of Jericho. 7/10 due to the rules changing every 2 mins.
30-Minute Ultimate Submission Match
Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit
This match should've of happened at Wrestlemania 17. The Angle and Beniot feud of 2001 is one of my most favourite feuds of all time. A whole arsenal of different submission moves were used by both competitors and of course their own specials. The last 10 minutes were really intense due to that Beniot was behind 3 to 2 and then came back to make a draw 3/3. The match was extended a further 5 minutes under sudden death which in the end crowned Beniot the winner and in my opinion deserved it after being screwed by Angle at WM17. 10/10
Last Man Standing Match
Shane McMahon vs. The Big Show
This was definitely the highlight of the night. Some weapons were used by Shane O Mac such as a kendo stick, steel chair, keep out sign and either a cloth soaked with chloroform or something. Suddenly Test and Vince McMahon interfered in the match lifting the suspense. The ending actually made me jump as Shane did an elbow drop of the 50ft scaffold onto the Big Show. Test helped Shane up while the big show was counted out for 10 Shane wins, a Fantastic Match. 10/10
European Championship
Triple Threat Match
Eddie Guerrero vs. Christian vs. Matt Hardy (c)
The Crowd weren't really into this match after the last man standing match but overall it was pretty enjoyable. The match did indeed force you to wonder who was going to walk away Euro champ although until Edge and Jeff hardy interfered it was pretty clear that Matt was going to retain. A nice short solid title match. 7.5/10
WWE Title/Intercontinental Title/Tag Team Titles match
Stone Cold Steve Austin [WWE Champion] and Triple H [Intercontinental Champion] vs. Kane and the Undertaker [Tag Team champions]
Winners take all
I was very much surprised of how great this main event with the winner take all situation I believe was fair for Taker & Kane. This was a brutal long 20 minute brawl between the brothers of destruction against Stone Cold & Triple H. Steph got big booted in the face for her interference. Kane was double teamed throughout the majority of the match his left arm being a pin point bullseye for HHH and the rattlesnake. Taker chases after Austin through the crowd leaving Kane & Triple H until Vince interfered giving hunter a sledgehammer to which was used on Kane in the face. Stone cold and HHH become the new tag champs. 9/10
60/70 which is 85% meaning that if you are a true wrestling fan you need to buy this DVD immediately none of the matches will let you down.

WWE Summerslam: The Complete Anthology, Volume Four (2009) Review

WWE Summerslam: The Complete Anthology, Volume Four (2009)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This has to be the most weakest group of Summerslams events ever put together. The only reason I gave this set a three star rating is because some of the matches from this set are worth seeing and needs to be seen if already haven't.
Now I'll be honest, I did not purchase or will not purchase this set because I have all of these events taped on VHS and on DVD already. So therefore, I do not know what has been edited or blurred out or what music has been altered.
2003 - SummerSlam hosted from Phoenix this year and is probably the best SummerSlam of this set. The Elimination Chamber returned after it's debut a year earlier as the World Heavyweight Champion Triple H (who was injured) defended the World Title against Goldberg, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, & Kevin Nash in the demonic structure. This Elimination Chamber Match is also referred to as the worst ECM in history mainly because Triple H was limited at best in the match and simply because Goldberg wasn't getting over with the fans since his debut at Backlash earlier in the year. The match was however topped by Smackdown's WWE Championship Match in a Wrestlemania XIX rematch as WWE Champion Kurt Angle went against Brock Lesnar. Other highlights of the event are the Fatal Four Way Match for the United States Championship with Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero vs. Rhyno vs. Tajiri and the No Holds Barred Match between Kane and his former tag team partner RVD. Other matches include The Dudley Boyz vs. World Tag Team Champions La Resistance, Undertaker vs. A-Train with the return of Stephanie McMahon, and the match between Shane McMahon and Eric Bischoff with so many twists throughout the match and Stone Cold Steve Austin returning.
2004 - "Bizzar-O-World" was SummerSlam's home this year as it hosted from Toronto, Canada; during the same time as the 2004 Summer Games in Athens. This event was centered around Randy Orton becoming the youngest World's Champion in history after defeating the World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit in a classic wrestling match. Other bouts includes The Undertaker challenging WWE Champion J.B.L. for the WWE Championship, Edge being booed in his home town as he defends the Intercontinental Championship against Chris Jericho and Batista, Kurt Angle returning to the ring to face Eddie Guerrero in a Wrestlemania XX rematch (the second best match of the night), Triple H vs. Eugene, Match No. 1 for the United States Championship as John Cena battles Booker T, Rey Mysterio, Paul London, & Billy Kidman vs. Bubbah Ray, D-Von, & Spike Dudley, and also Diva Dodgeball involving the WWE Divas vs. the WWE Diva-Search contestants. And finally Matt Hardy vs. Kane where the winner would Marry Lita on Raw.
2005 - SummerSlam this year was main evented by the "Immortal" Hulk Hogan taking on the "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels in a special "Legend vs. Icon" dream match. Other matches from this night includes The Undertaker vs. Randy Orton in a Wrestlemania 21 rematch, WWE Champion John Cena vs. Chris Jericho (Jericho's last inring Summerslam performance until Summerslam '09), & Eddie Guerrero's last Summerslam appearence as he faced Rey Mysterio in a Ladder Match. But most of the matches here were just squash matches including Chris Benoit winning the United States Championship from Orlando Jordan in under 30 seconds that led to a series of matches of Benoit making Orlando tapping out in faster time, Matt Hardy returning to the WWE to seek revenge against Edge & Lita but only to lose after a 5 minute fight due to a lost of blood, Batista returning home to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against J.B.L in a No Holds Barred Match, and lastly Kurt Angle in his last SummerSlam appearence only to beat the mess out of Eugene.
2006 - The slogan to this year's SummerSlam was "The Biggest Party Of The Summer" but the bottom line is that this year's SummerSlam was just plain BAD! WWE Champion Edge took on John Cena in Cena's home town of Boston, MA where the stipulation was if Edge got DQed then he was lose the WWE Title to John Cena while we see Edge getting more cheers then Cena all throughout the match. The rest of the card just came off stale as the recently reunited D-Generation X (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) faced Mr. McMahon and his son Shane McMahon in a Tag Team Match but was overkilled thanks to a lot of interferences and the McMahons trying to mock legendary teams such as the Hart Foundation and the Road Warriors all throughout the match, World Heavyweight Champion King Booker vs. Batista in a "bad" match that ended in a Disqualification, Hulk Hogan returning to take on Randy Orton in a typical "Hulkamania" match, Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero feuding in the "Eddie Guerrero" storyline where we see the heel turn of Vickie Guerrero, the ECW Champion Big Show vs. Sabu in an Extreme Rules Match that just came off so sloppy and botchful, and lastly an "I Quit" Match between Ric Flair and Mick Foley that started off so good but the ending is what killed the whole match.
2007 - This year's SummerSlam is probably the weakest out of this bunch which only held one good match in WWE Champion John Cena vs. Randy Orton. This year's SummerSlam was also centered around two big returns in Triple H and Rey Mysterio. Triple H however returned only to squash King Booker in his match while Rey Mysterio went out to face Chavo Guerrero again but only to be remembered for his outfit rather then his return match itself. Batista taking on the World Heavyweight Champion Great Khali in probably the WORST match in SummerSlam history. The rest of the card is only average at best as the Intercontinental Champion Umaga went against Carlito and Mr. Kennedy in a Triple Threat Match, John Morrison defending his ECW Championship against C.M. Punk in probably their weakest match out of all their matches throughout the year of 2007, Kane vs. Finlay, a WWE Diva Battle Royal, and Stone Cold Steve Austin returning to challenge M.V.P. in a Beer Drinking Contest that ended in your typical Stone Cold beer bash.
This SummerSlam set is the weakest one out of the four SummerSlam volume sets. I recommend holding off this set for awhile and I recommend the other three SummerSlam volume sets before this one.

WWE Royal Rumble - The Complete Anthology, Vol. 3 (2008) Review

WWE Royal Rumble - The Complete Anthology, Vol. 3 (2008)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
1998 - The Rumble match was very entertaining with highlights being Mick Foley enterting under all three personas, the hardcore exchange between Terry "Chainsaw Charlie" Funk & Mick "Cactus Jack" Foley, the interaction between the members of the Nation Of Domination, what happened between Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart, and everyone gunning for Steve Austin thoughout the match. HBK/Undertaker faced off in a casket match that gave Shawn his injury that took him out of action until 2002 & the ending with Kane lighting the casket on fire set the stage for their WrestleMania match. Mike Tyson does make an appearence here as well with other matches including Vader vs. Artist Formely Known As Goldust, New Age Outlaws vs. Legion Of Doom, The Rock vs. Ken Shamrock, and a six man tag match with the midgets from Mexico with Sunny as the referee.
1999 - The Rumble itself had Vince & Austin's first fight which started & ended the Rumble, Chyna becoming the first woman to enter the Rumble, and everyone gunning for Austin to collect a bounty Vince put on his head. The real highlight of this Rumble was the Rock vs. Mankind "I Quit" match as Foley took the most vicious unprotected chairshots. The rest of the card was very average (Road Dogg vs. Big Boss Man, Mr. Ass vs. Shamrock) to boring (X-Pac vs. Gangrel) to just plain sad (Sable's strap match against Luna).
2000 - Tazz debuted & broke Kurt Angle's undefeated streak, Dudleyz vs. Hardyz in the first tables match, and the historic Cactus Jack vs. HHH street fight were at this event. Also on here was the Royal Rumble Bikini contest that included Mae Young pulling her "puppies" out & scaring Jerry Lawler to death, New Age Outlaws vs. Acolytes, and a triple threat match featuring Jericho vs. Chyna vs. Hardcore Holly. The Rumble itself had some funny moments such as Too Cool & Rikishi dancing during the middle of the match and Funaki being eliminated more times in a Rumble match than anyone else in history with The Rock winning at the end.
2001 - Stone Cold won this Rumble that featured a Drew Carey appearence and Kane's dominate record of 11 men eliminated. The WWE Title match between Kurt Angle vs. Triple H that was highlighted by the catfight between Stephanie McMahon & Trish Stratus, a classic ladder match between Jericho & Benoit, and a match between Dudleys vs. Edge & Christian are worth checking out on here as well.
2002 - This Royal Rumble was highlighted by the returns of Mr. Perfect, Goldust, Val Venis, and the Godfather (Ho Train included), and the winner in Triple H...but the real highlight was an "anything can happen in the WWE" moment as the then-rookie Maven eliminated the Undertaker. Also on here was a street fight between Ric Flair vs. Mr. McMahon, William Regal vs. Edge, Trish vs. Jazz, Spike Dudley & Tazz vs. Dudleys, and Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho vs. The Rock.
