We are two girls from Holland, Warda and Marloes. We used to do gymnastics ourselves an we both teach this sport for a few years now. We think the video is very inspiring an witty for the children it is mend for. It was very nice to see that the children you used were not all oncoming miss and Mr. USA. This is an important factor in keep doing it every day and not dropping out after the first couple of days. The lesson here is made clear: slim is not the perfect image. Normally in this kind of video's you see the perfect woman with the perfect body who makes the perfect back-handspring. By the way: we call this a "flick-flack". We think that before you are going to teach a flick-flack the child has to be strong enough. Otherwise there will first be a lot of training. In this case your excersises are excellent. And of course you are right on when you improve your body strength you can do the flick-flack better but more important, it will improve all the other gymnastics elements in your tumbling. We hope your video will be a success in the US and other countries. END

Nadia (1984) Review

I loved this movie when I was a little girl, and have been trying to track it down since the neighbor who owned it moved away when I was 10 years old. This movie traces Nadia's career in gymnastics, starting from the moment she was discovered in the schoolyard by Bela Caroli when she was only 5 or 6 years old. We learn of the difficulties Nadia encounters, as her life is slowly taken over by the sport in many ways. However, we also witness all of her victories, starting with the competition where she was chosen to represent her country and first stole the spotlight from the other young gymnasts. The movie follows Nadia's life up to the Olympics, and the gymnastics scenes are all intercut with scenes from Nadia's real performances.I believe that anybody who loves gymnastics will really enjoy this movie. I really hope that it will be rereleased on VHS because I can't wait to buy a copy of my own!

Perfect Body Review

Perfect Body

This film was shown as mid-day movie on a weekday when I was sick from work. Usually the movies shown in that particular timeslot are incredibly shocking and simply make you want to fall asleep.
Convinced this was just another one of those movies I held very low expectations for this film. However, what started out as a boring afternoon in bed, turned into a compelling two hours that gripped me and drew me in. "Perfect Body" was no ordinary fill-in movie, but a beautifully crafted tale which scarily enough is very truthful to the ways of many teenagers in real life.
Andy is thrilled when she is given the chance to build from her talents as a gymnist and is set on the road towards the olympics. but her first training session starts off with every girl's nightmare: she is weighed infront of the whole class and critisised for being "overweight". the pressure of wanting to be the best overwhelmes Andy and she begins starving herself and exercising compulsively - convinced that this is the only way to achieve success. As her eating disorder worsens, it consumes Andy, and has an impact on her relationships with her boyfriend, friends and parents. Andy must stop punishing her body before it's too late to turn back the clock.
Amy Jo Johnson is simply captivating as Andy. She captures the wrath of her athletic alter-ego stunningly and puts on a totally believable performance. Throughout the film you can noticably see her character transform from a healthy, happy teenager to a physically sick teenager. Her skin becomes pale and dry and even her hair begins to fall out.
There are several gymnastic sequences as well which add as a bonus. The routines are beautifully filmed.
And obviously it is aimed to send a very important message to everyone: it doesn't matter how you look outside, so you shouldn't change youreself to fit in with the crowd.
At the end of the day, this is no ordinary drama about teenaged angst, but a reality check. This behaviour in teenaged girls is really happening. "Perfect Body" takes us through the long and painful journey of a girl who goes too far.
Excellent!

This is a great video for a beginning gymnast. My daughter is able to practice the moves while watching the video. I know nothing about gymnastics and being a parent of a gymnast, it showed me from the beginning what my child is learning which enables me to help my child practice at home.
