FLY TYING: Tying Emergers Review

FLY TYING: Tying Emergers

I've yet to fish any of these flies, but I'd give Shane Stalcup a 10 out of 10 for style points on his patterns. The videos are excellent. Each procedure is clearly filmed and well-explained. Additionally, the patterns tend to be simple to tie and extremely realistic...not to mention beautiful. I was particularly impressed with his film, "Tying with CDC". Give them a try! You won't regret the investment.

Pitching in the Fast Lane (1996)
Average Reviews:

The video does a very good job of clearly demonstrating the fundamental mechanics for pitching. It is not long and drawn out yet conveys a clear and simple message that most anyone can understand. The message is clear enough to allow a student to actually learn off of the video. The mechanics presented are sound and represent a good foundation for pitching.

This surf film definitely makes you want to visit Canada for surfing. I never knew Nova Scotia got that big. As an east coaster, I repect the surf seen in this film. The music is energetic (a band named Gob dominates most of it) and appropriate for the high powered waves. The west coast footage is pretty amazing and some of the surfers out there are definitely rip. The snowboarding and acting segments make this video cool as hell. Buy it.

NFL / Arizona Cardinals 98 (1998) Review

NFL / Arizona Cardinals 98 (1998)

This video covers the Arizona Cardinals '97-'98 season. Although the Cardinals only went 4-12 this season, they were able to improve their defense and put themselves in a position to improve for their playoff season the next year. This season marked strong performances by Aeneas Williams (now with the Rams) and the Cards solid receivers, Frank Sanders and Rob Moore. All in all this is a good video and it gives good insight into this season. Please keep in mind that at about 26 minutes, this is a highlight yearbook, it does not show entire games. It is still great viewing for any Cards fan, though.

Not as perfect as Part One...but close. Extraordinary footage, especially given the time and circumstances surrounding its filming. Riefenstahl is a master (mistress?!) of her craft and the spirit of athleticism is wonderfully captured. A must-have for your video library.

This video is 'classic' NFL Films! Great footage of the games, insight in huddles and on the sidelines. If you're a 'PACKER' fan you have to have it. The PACK is in line for a Super Bowl run this year, see the foundation laid out by Mike Sherman. Buy this video documenting Shermans' first season as head coach.

Mlb: 1955 World Series - Brooklyn Vs Ny Review

Mlb: 1955 World Series - Brooklyn Vs Ny
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When the Brooklyn Dodgers faced the New York Yankees in the 1955 World Series it was their sixth meeting in 15 years and when the Dodgers dropped the first two games at Yankee Stadium it sure seemed like the results would going to be the same as they had been all of those previous times. After all, no team had ever lost the first two games of a seven-game Series and come back to win. The hero ended up being 23-year-old left handed pitcher Johnny Podres, who mixed his fastball and change of pace to win Game 3 and then came back to shutout the Yankees 2-0 in the deciding game. Whitey Ford won games 1 and 6 for New York. The signature play of the series was when left-handed leftfielder Sandy Amoros caught a slicing fly ball off the bat of Yogi Berra and turned it into a game-saving double play. The two teams combined for a (then) record of 17 home runs with Duke Snider blasting four round trippers; Mickey Mantle only had one and was kept out of most of the games by a bad leg. Gil Hodges drove in both of the runs in the finale. The home team won the first six of the seven games in the Series. This video of the "1955 World Series: Brooklyn Dodgers v. New York Yankees" runs about 41-minutes. Obviously so those die-hard Brooklyn fans, traumatized by their beloved Bums leaving the borough for Los Angeles two years later, this video recalls the greatest moment in franchise history (okay, second greatest besides signing Jackie Robinson, who stole home in Game 1, but I am a Yankee fan and prejudiced).

Los Angeles Lakers 1982 - Something to Prove (1982) Review

Los Angeles Lakers 1982 - Something to Prove (1982)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although it seems amazing that any champion can be considered overlooked, the 1982 Los Angeles Lakers fit that mold. Anyone who knows of the NBA knows of 1980 and the coming out party of Magic Johnson in Game Six of the Finals and how the team pulled together for a special season. That same group of people also know about 1985 and the demolition of the Celtic jinx on the parquet floor of Boston Garden led by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's redemptively dominant performance and Magic Johnson's quiet triple-double. Sandwiched in between those years, however, is a very significant championship year. From Magic's on and off court trauma with Paul Westhead to the inclusion of Pat Riley into the head coaching role and the beginning of Showtime. From the key roles of Bob McAdoo and Mitch Kupchack before such names as Byron Scott or A.C. Green were even around to the stardom of Abdul-Jabbar and Johnson, not to mention perhaps one of the greatest backcourt tandems in Johnson and Norm Nixon. This video portrays a wonderful team that has been lost in the scheme of glamorizing the NBA yet is perhaps one of its best catalysts for modeling the changing of the guard in how the game was played. It is a movie well worth the review of Laker fans obviously but of NBA fans most definitely.

Shawn Kemp: Reignman Review

Shawn Kemp had a great carrer didn't he. All time leader in blocks and rebounds in Sonics history. The movie was very good, but is definitely not worth 33 bucks. I got my copy in 1998 at a local Mardens for 5 dollars. I am a very huge fan of this guy. I wish he would of stayed in Seattly andmaybe his carrer ouldnt of went don the drain. The reason i gave this movie a 4 is because it didnt show enough of him in the dunk contest. It should alot of game highlights which is great, but he had some great dunks in the dunk contest also. This movie is truly a good one though.

Philadelphia Eagles 2001 NFL Team Video (2001) Review

Philadelphia Eagles 2001 NFL Team Video (2001)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This video chronicles the Eagles' rise from cellar dwellers to the elite class of the NFL in just one year. The video is basic top-rate NFL Films quality, they would make a video for an 0-16 team watchable.
The big problem is that NFL Films has cut the length of team highlight films down to 24 minutes (they ran 44 minutes up until 1998)It doesn't go into as much depth in personnel and game coverage as the longer versions of years past would, and that is frustrating, considering the Eagles had the NFL coach of the year in Andy Reid and MVP runner-up Donovan McNabb in 2000.
Best parts: Coverage of the 21-3 playoff rout of the Buccaneers is outstanding, as is the 41-14 opening day annihilation of the Cowboys, and 26-23 overtime miracle over the Steelers in which they trailed 23-13 with less than 3 minutes left in regulation.
Weak: Obviously, the shortness. No highlights of a 13-9 win over the Bears or 16-7 win over the Bengals to close the regular season. In fact, the Bengals game wasn't even mentioned.

NFL Hits: Country (1998) Review

NFL Hits: Country (1998)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For the most part, NFL players cannot sing, and they know this, so they stick to football (I still cringe when I think about Deion Sanders' BRIEF career in music). This video shows the NFL stars laying down their tracks for the cd version of NFL Hits Country in the studio. In their defense, I have a hard time imagining country singers out on the field on Sunday. However, these players prove otherwise. My favorite cut is Jo Dee Messina and Brad Johnson singing "I'm a Survivor" (which Jo Dee co-wrote). Brad has a great baritone going for him. "I Just Can't Live With Myself" (Mark Willis/Rick Tuten), "Brinks Truck" (Randy Travis/Michael Strahan), and "Whatever It Takes" (Kenny Chesney/Peyton Manning) are also surprisingly good performances by the NFL stars.

NFL / St Louis Rams 1999 (1999) Review

NFL / St Louis Rams 1999 (1999)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This tape reviews the 1998 season when they only won 4 games. I enjoyed the tape, but I think only cause I love the Rams so much. I have all the St.louis Rams Highlight tapes and they are all pretty interchangable. Infact, when I watch them, sometimes forget which one I'm seeing. They keep using a lot of the same music. The defense in 1998 played well and if they had any offense, they would have won a lot more games, as the 1999 season proves. The tape starts out by showing clips of Faulk, Green, and Holt before they joined the team. Then the season highlights. The Rams beat 3 playoff teams and should have beaten the Vikings. The tape shows lots of clips from the games they did win. It's nothing special, but I enjoyed seeing replays of the interceptions and sacks the Defense made. It's a highlight tape, so they don't mention Banks and his fumbles and Kennisons hands of stone. I say, buy it if you love the Rams. If you don't, youre not missing much. I know you will buy next years tape for sure, so this tape is a nice contrast to compare how the Rams went from worst to first.

The St. Louis Rams are simply the most exciting team to watch in the NFL. The 2000 highlight film is simply the best one that I have seen period. From Marshall Faulks juke moves to Az Hakims punt returns this is a video worth spending a couple of dollars on just to see what the game is all about; excitement, fun and speed. I can watch this video any time of the day or night and feel very happy about my purchase. Whoever decides to buy any of the 2000 highlight film(s) put this one on your order first and you definitely wont be disappointed. P.S Im not a Rams fan but I must admit that this film is simply the best commentated and most entertaining highlight film of 2000.
